The unavoidable dendrite growth and shuttle effect have long been stranglehold challenges limiting the safety and practicality of lithium-sulfur batteries.Herein,we propose a dual-action strategy to address the lithium dendrite issue in stages by constructing a multifunctional surface-negatively-charged nanodiamond layer with high ductility and robust puncture resistance on polypropylene (PP) separator.The uniformly loaded compact negative layer can not only significantly enhance electron transmission efficiency and promote uniform lithium deposition,but also reduce the formation of dendrite during early deposition stage.Most importantly,under the strong puncture stress encountered during the deterioration of lithium dendrite growth under limiting current,the high ductility and robust puncture resistance(145.88 MPa) of as-obtained nanodiamond layer can effectively prevent short circuits caused by unavoidable lithium dendrite.The Li||Li symmetrical cells assembled with nanodiamond layer modified PP demonstrated a stable cycle of over 1000 h at 2 mA cm^(-2)with a polarization voltage of only 29.3 mV.Additionally,the negative charged layer serves as a physical barrier blocking lithium polysulfide ions,effectively mitigating capacity attenuation.The improved cells achieved a capacity decay of only 0.042%per cycle after 700 cycles at 3 C,demonstrating effective suppression of dendrite growth and capacity attenuation,showing promising prospect. 展开更多

Aqueous sodium-ion batteries(ASIBs)and aqueous potassium-ion batteries(APIBs)present significant potential for large-scale energy storage due to their cost-effectiveness,safety,and environmental compatibility.Nonetheless,the intricate energy storage mechanisms in aqueous electrolytes place stringent require-ments on the host materials.Prussian blue analogs(PBAs),with their open three-dimensional framework and facile synthesis,stand out as leading candidates for aqueous energy storage.However,PBAs possess a swift capacity fade and limited cycle longevity,for their structural integrity is compromised by the pronounced dis-solution of transition metal(TM)ions in the aqueous milieu.This manuscript provides an exhaustive review of the recent advancements concerning PBAs in ASIBs and APIBs.The dissolution mechanisms of TM ions in PBAs,informed by their structural attributes and redox processes,are thoroughly examined.Moreover,this study delves into innovative design tactics to alleviate the dissolution issue of TM ions.In conclusion,the paper consolidates various strategies for suppressing the dissolution of TM ions in PBAs and posits avenues for prospective exploration of high-safety aqueous sodium-/potassium-ion batteries. 展开更多

Passive detection of low-slow-small(LSS)targets is easily interfered by direct signal and multipath clutter,and the traditional clutter suppression method has the contradiction between step size and convergence rate.In this paper,a frequency domain clutter suppression algorithm based on sparse adaptive filtering is proposed.The pulse compression operation between the error signal and the input reference signal is added to the cost function as a sparsity constraint,and the criterion for filter weight updating is improved to obtain a purer echo signal.At the same time,the step size and penalty factor are brought into the adaptive iteration process,and the input data is used to drive the adaptive changes of parameters such as step size.The proposed algorithm has a small amount of calculation,which improves the robustness to parameters such as step size,reduces the weight error of the filter and has a good clutter suppression performance. 展开更多

Bushfires are devastating to forest managers,owners,residents,and the natural environment.Recent tech-nological advances indicate a potential for faster response times in terms of detecting and suppressing fires.However,to date,all these technologies have been applied in isola-tion.This paper introduces the latest fire detection and sup-pression technologies from ground to space.An operations research method was used to assemble these technologies into a theoretical framework for fire detection and suppres-sion.The framework harnesses the advantages of satellite-based,drone,sensor,and human reporting technologies as well as image processing and artificial intelligence machine learning.The study concludes that,if a system is designed to maximise the use of available technologies and carefully adopts them through complementary arrangements,a fire detection and resource suppression system can achieve the ultimate aim:to reduce the risk of fire hazards and the dam-age they may cause. 展开更多

Neutron radiography is a crucial nondestructive testing technology widely used in the aerospace,military,and nuclear industries.However,because of the physical limitations of neutron sources and collimators,the resulting neutron radiographic images inevitably exhibit multiple distortions,including noise,geometric unsharpness,and white spots.Furthermore,these distortions are particularly significant in compact neutron radiography systems with low neutron fluxes.Therefore,in this study,we devised a multi-distortion suppression network that employs a modified generative adversarial network to improve the quality of degraded neutron radiographic images.Real neutron radiographic image datasets with various types and levels of distortion were built for the first time as multi-distortion suppression datasets.Thereafter,the coordinate attention mechanism was incorporated into the backbone network to augment the capability of the proposed network to learn the abstract relationship between ideally clear and degraded images.Extensive experiments were performed;the results show that the proposed method can effectively suppress multiple distortions in real neutron radiographic images and achieve state-of-theart perceptual visual quality,thus demonstrating its application potential in neutron radiography. 展开更多

Seismic modeling by combining the finite-difference scheme with the numerical dispersion suppression neural network

Seismic finite-difference(FD) modeling suffers from numerical dispersion including both the temporal and spatial dispersion, which can decrease the accuracy of the numerical modeling. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of the conventional numerical modeling, I develop a new seismic modeling method by combining the FD scheme with the numerical dispersion suppression neural network(NDSNN). This method involves the following steps. First, a training data set composed of a small number of wavefield snapshots is generated. The wavefield snapshots with the low-accuracy wavefield data and the high-accuracy wavefield data are paired, and the low-accuracy wavefield snapshots involve the obvious numerical dispersion including both the temporal and spatial dispersion. Second, the NDSNN is trained until the network converges to simultaneously suppress the temporal and spatial dispersion.Third, the entire set of low-accuracy wavefield data is computed quickly using FD modeling with the large time step and the coarse grid. Fourth, the NDSNN is applied to the entire set of low-accuracy wavefield data to suppress the numerical dispersion including the temporal and spatial dispersion.Numerical modeling examples verify the effectiveness of my proposed method in improving the computational accuracy and efficiency. 展开更多

Stabilization of tearing modes and neoclassical tearing modes is of great importance for tokamak operation.Electron cyclotron waves(ECWs)have been extensively used to stabilize the tearing modes with the virtue of highly localized power deposition.Complete suppression of the m/n=2/1 tearing mode(TM)by electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH)has been achieved successfully on the J-TEXT tokamak.The effects of ECW deposition location and power amplitude on the 2/1 TM suppression have been investigated.It is found that the suppression is more effective when the ECW power is deposited closer to the rational surface.As the ECW power increases to approximately 230 k W,the 2/1 TM can be completely suppressed.The island rotation frequency is increased when the island width is reduced.The experimental results show that the local heating inside the magnetic island and the resulting temperature perturbation increase at the O-point of the island play dominant roles in TM suppression.As the ECW power increases,the 2/1 island is suppressed to smaller island width,and the flow shear also plays a stabilizing effect on small magnetic islands.With the stabilizing contribution of heating and flow shear,the 2/1 TM can be completely suppressed. 展开更多

Kesterite Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4)(CZTSSe)solar cells suffer from severe carrier recombination,limiting the photovoltaic performance.Unfavorable energy band alignment at the p-n junction and defective front interface are two main causes.Herein,oxygen incorporation in CZTSSe via absorber air-annealing was developed as a strategy to optimize its surface photoelectric property and reduce the defects.With optimized oxygen incorporation conditions,the carrier separation and collection behavior at the front interface of the device is improved.In particular,it is found that oxygen incorporated absorber exhibits increased band bending,larger depletion region width,and suppressed absorber defects.These indicate the dynamic factors for carrier separation become stronger.Meanwhile,the increased potential difference between grain boundaries and intra grains combined with the decreased concentration of interface deep level defect in the absorber provide a better path for carrier transport.As a consequence,the champion efficiency of CZTSSe solar cells has been improved from 9.74%to 12.04%with significantly improved open-circuit voltage after optimized air-annealing condition.This work provides a new insight for interface engineering to improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency of CZTSSe devices. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel approach that simultaneously enables photovoltaic(PV)inversion and flexible arc suppression during single-phase grounding faults.Inverters compensate for ground currents through an arc-elimination function,while outputting a PV direct current(DC)power supply.This method effectively reduces the residual grounding current.To reduce the dependence of the arc-suppression performance on accurate compensation current-injection models,an adaptive fuzzy neural network imitating a sliding mode controller was designed.An online adaptive adjustment law for network parameters was developed,based on the Lyapunov stability theorem,to improve the robustness of the inverter to fault and connection locations.Furthermore,a new arc-suppression control exit strategy is proposed to allow a zerosequence voltage amplitude to quickly and smoothly track a target value by controlling the nonlinear decrease in current and reducing the regulation time.Simulation results showed that the proposed method can effectively achieve fast arc suppression and reduce the fault impact current in single-phase grounding faults.Compared to other methods,the proposed method can generate a lower residual grounding current and maintain good arc-suppression performance under different transition resistances and fault locations. 展开更多

Synthetic aperture radar(SAR)is a high-resolution two-dimensional imaging radar.However,during the imaging process,SAR is susceptible to intentional and unintentional interference,with radio frequency inter⁃ference(RFI)being the most common type,leading to a severe degradation in image quality.To address the above problem,numerous algorithms have been proposed.Although inpainting networks have achieved excellent results,their generalization is unclear.Whether they still work effectively in cross-sensor experiments needs fur⁃ther verification.Through the time-frequency analysis to interference signals,this work finds that interference holds domain invariant features between different sensors.Therefore,this work reconstructs the loss function and extracts the domain invariant features to improve its generalization.Ultimately,this work proposes a SAR RFI suppression method based on domain invariant features,and embeds the RFI suppression into SAR imaging pro⁃cess.Compared to traditional notch filtering methods,the proposed approach not only removes interference but also effectively preserves strong scattering targets.Compared to PISNet,our method can extract domain invariant features and hold better generalization ability,and even in the cross-sensor experiments,our method can still achieve excellent results.In cross-sensor experiments,training data and testing data come from different radar platforms with different parameters,so cross-sensor experiments can provide evidence for the generalization. 展开更多

Sb_(2)Se_(3) with unique one-dimensional(1D) crystal structure exhibits exceptional deformation tolerance,demonstrating great application potential in flexible devices.However,the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of flexible Sb_(2)Se_(3) photovoltaic devices is temporarily limited by the complicated intrinsic defects and the undesirable contact interfaces.Herein,a high-quality Sb_(2)Se_(3) absorber layer with large crystal grains and benign [hkl] growth orientation can be first prepared on a Mo foil substrate.Then NaF intermediate layer is introduced between Mo and Sb_(2)Se_(3),which can further optimize the growth of Sb_(2)Se_(3)thin film.Moreover,positive Na ion diffusion enables it to dramatically lower barrier height at the back contact interface and passivate harmful defects at both bulk and heterojunction.As a result,the champion substrate structured Mo-foil/Mo/NaF/Sb_(2)Se_(3)/CdS/ITO/Ag flexible thin-film solar cell delivers an obviously higher efficiency of 8.03% and a record open-circuit voltage(V_(OC)) of 0.492 V.This flexible Sb_(2)Se_(3) device also exhibits excellent stability and flexibility to stand large bending radius and multiple bending times,as well as superior weak light photo-response with derived efficiency of 12.60%.This work presents an effective strategy to enhance the flexible Sb_(2)Se_(3) device performance and expand its potential photovoltaic applications. 展开更多

Smart material and structure (SMS) is a challenging novel technique for the 21 century especially in fields of aviation and aerospace. Vibration and noise suppression smart structure is an important branch of SMS. There are several typical structures such as the cabin of an airplane, space station, the solar board of satellite and the rotor blade of a helicopter, of which the vibrations and radiation noises have bad influences on precise equipments and aiming systems. In order to suppress vibrations and noises of these structures, several algorithms are applied to the models which simulate the structures. Experiments are performed to suppress vibrations and noises by bonding sensors and actuators to the structures at the optimized locations and using computer based measurement and control systems. For the blade vibration control of a helicopter, a non contact method of signal transmission by magneto electric coupling is discussed. The experimental results demonstrate that the methods used for active control are effective. 展开更多

The buffeting load can lead to high cyclic strain and stress,dramatically reduce the fatigue life of composite structures. In this paper, piezoelectric patches are bonded on the surface of composite panel. The dynamic response of the structure is measured by using bonded piezoelectric sensors. Filtered adaptive control algorithm is used to control the strain of piezoelectric actuators actively, so as to increase the modal damping coefficient of the composite panel, suppress the dynamic response and improve the fatigue performance of the structure. Therefore, a novel DMF with a offset-feed bended coupling structure and a stepped-impedance dual- mode resonator is proposed for coupling enhancement and spurious response suppression. Based on the analysis of the change of spur frequencies and the current distribution of spur resonant modes, all spurs near passband of the cascaded DMF can be fully suppressed by optimizing the structure parameters of parasite resonators, which bene- fits from the inherent well-controlled transmission zeros. Experimental results show that the proposed DMF ex- hibits lower insertion loss ,much sharper rate of cutoff and wider spur-free stop band compared with conventional DMF. In order to suppress the speckle appearing in synthesis aperture radar (SAR) images, a novel speckle reduction method based on wavelet domain hidden Markov tree (HMT) was proposed. First, the image was logarithmic transformed to change the statistical property of the speckles. Then an HMT was constructed in the correspondent wavelet domain. Based on this model, the image signal was restored by maximum likelihood estimation and speckle noise was suppressed. Simulating SAR images had shown that the performance of the filter is satisfactory for both speckle smoothing and edges presentation, and for generating visually natural images as well. 展开更多

To avoid the detection and tracking by modern IR-guided missiles, the aircraft and helicopters also demand progress in its stealth techniques. Hence, study of Infra-Red Signature Suppression (IRSS) systems in aircraft and helicopters has become vital even in design stage. Optical blocking (masking) is one of the effective IRSS techniques used to block the Line- Of-Sight (LOS) of the hot engine parts of the exhaust geometry. This paper reviews the various patents on IR signature suppression systems based on the optical blocking method or a combination of IRSS techniques. Lithium metal is the most promising electrode for next-generation rechargeable batteries. However, the formation of lithium dendrite on the anode surface leads to serious safety concerns and low coulombic efficiency.Recently, researchers have made great efforts and significant progresses to solve these problems. Here we review the growth mechanism and suppression method of lithium dendrite for LSBs’ anode protection. We also establish the relationship between the growth mechanism and suppression method. The research direction for building better LSBs is given by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of these methods based on the growth mechanism. 展开更多

A new method is proposed to suppress chatter, in which the ultrasonic elliptical vibration is added on the cutting tool edge. It results in the fact that the rake face of tool is separated from the chip and the direction of the frictional force between the rake face and the chip is reversed in each cycle of elliptical vibration cutting. The experimental investigations show that the chatter can be suppressed effectively by adding ultrasonic elliptical vibration on the cutting tool edge. In order to make clear the reason of chatter suppression, the mechanism of chatter suppression is analyzed theoretically from the viewpoint of energy. 展开更多

To some extent,cavitation made fatigue damage in advance. Many scholars found that the re-entrant jets were the reasons of the shedding of cavities. To suppress cavitation,based on the idea of blocking the re-entrant jets,a special surface flow structure of 2D hydrofoil was proposed. The through-hole was made in the proper position of the hydrofoil. The incoming flow can outflow from this jet-hole automatically depending on the pressure difference between pressure side and suction side. Re-entrant jet growth can be weakened by optimizing the jet-hole geometry. Based on the standard k-ε turbulence model and Schnerr & Sauer cavitation model,under different cavitation numbers( σ) and jet-angles( β) for NACA0066( 2D) hydrofoil with 8° angles of attack,cavitation field numerical analysis was carried out. The results show that 2D hydrofoil cavitation flow had a strong unsteadiness. Making a jet-hole at the junction between the re-entrant jet and cavity can effectively minimize cloud cavitation. For a certain cavitation condition,optimal jet-angles( β) can be obtained to control cavitation growth. For the same β,the effects of cavitation suppression were changed with different cavitation numbers( σ). Consequently,suitable jet-angle and jet-position could extend the stable operating range of the hydrofoil. 展开更多

A nuclear spin gyroscope based on an alkali-metal–noble-gas co-magnetometer operated in spin-exchange relaxationfree(SERF) regime is a promising atomic rotation sensor for its ultra-high fundamental sensitivity. However, the fluctuation of probe light intensity is one of the main technical error sources that limits the bias stability of the gyroscope. Here we propose a novel method to suppress the bias error induced by probe light intensity fluctuations. This method is based on the inherent magnetic field response characteristics of the gyroscope. By the application of a bias magnetic field, the gyroscope can be tuned to a working point where the output signal is insensitive to probe light intensity variation, referred to herein as ‘zero point’, thus the bias error induced by intensity fluctuations can be completely suppressed. The superiority of the method was verified on a K–Rb–21 Ne co-magnetometer, and a bias stability of approximately 0.01°/h was obtained. In addition, the method proposed here can remove the requirement of the closed-loop control of probe light intensity, thereby facilitating miniaturization of the gyroscope volume and improvement of reliability. 展开更多
