Understanding its dynamics and performance attributes' sensitivity to changes in its design parameters can be a very time-consuming and expensive exercise, as such an effort requires highly sophisticated test rigs and platforms. However, the need of such an understanding is crucially important for system designers, users, and evaluators. Some of the key performance attributes of such a system are its vertical jump, forward motion, recoil displacement, and force transmitted to ground through tires and trail after the gun has been fired. In this work, we have developed a rigid body dynamics model for a representative howitzer system, and used relatively simple experimental procedures to estimate its principal design parameters. Such procedures can help in obviating the need of expensive experimental rigs, especially in early stages of the design cycle. These parameters were subsequently incorporated into our simulation model, which was then used to predict gun performance. Finally, we conducted several sensitivity studies to understand the influence of changes in various design parameters on system performance. Their results provide useful insights in our understanding of the functioning of the overall system.展开更多

The CO model integrated with static, mode and dynamic analyses. In the system-level optimization model, a new objective function was advised, integrating all the subsystem-levels' objective functions, so as to eliminate the effects of dimensions and magnitude order. The proposed CO architecture enabled multi-objectives of the system and subsystem-level to be considered at both levels during optimization. A video camera positioned above the infant's crib captures video. The proposed system can monitor the behavior of infants aged zero to six months. If there is a change in behavior or any other unusual occurrence, the system alerts the person responsible to attend to the baby immediately. The proposed system operates in three phases, which are foreground color model (FC model) construction, infant detection, and degree of danger analysis. During FC model construction, the foreground color histogram is created iteratively; the background image does not have to be constructed first. A motion-history image (MHI) is also obtained based on the motion of the infant. The color and motion information supplied by the FC model and the MHI are combined to detect the infant, who is regarded as the foreground object in the input frame. Moreover, six features of infant behavior are extracted from the detected infant to measure the degree of danger faced by the infant, and the result is used to warn the baby-sitter if needed. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust and efficient.展开更多

Although a wide spectrum of studies on the QS system mechanisms have been carried out in experiments, mathematical modeling to explore the QS system has become a powerful approach as well. In this paper, we review the research progress of network modeling in bacterial QS to capture the system's underlying mechanisms. There are four types of QS system models for bacteria: the Gram-negative QS system model, the Gram-positive QS system model, the model for both Gram-negative and Gram-positive QS system, and the synthetic QS system model. These QS system models are mostly described by the ordinary differential equations (ODE) or partial differential equations (PDE) to study the changes of signaling molecule dynamics in time and space and the cell population density variations. Besides the deterministic simulations, the stochastic modeling approaches have also been introduced to discuss the noise effects on kinetics in QS systems. Taken together, these current modeling efforts advance our understanding of the QS system by providing systematic and quantitative dynamics description, which can hardly be obtained in experiments.展开更多

The analysis method of QENS spectra data is important to obtain parameters that can explain the structure of materials and the dynamics of water. In this paper, we present a revised jump-diffusion and rotation-diffusion model(rJRM) used for QENS spectra data analysis. By the rJRM, the QENS spectra from a pure magnesium-silicate-hydrate(MSH) sample are fitted well for the Q range from 0.3 ^(-1) to 1.9 ^(-1) and temperatures from 210 K up to 280 K. The fitted parameters can be divided into two kinds. The first kind describes the structure of the MSH sample, including the ratio of immobile water(or bound water) C and the confining radius of mobile water a_0. The second kind describes the dynamics of confined water in pores contained in the MSH sample, including the translational diffusion coefficient Dt, the average translational residence timeτ0, the rotational diffusion coefficient D_r, and the mean squared displacement(MSD) u^2. The r JRM is a new practical method suitable to fit QENS spectra from porous materials, where hydrogen atoms appear in both solid and liquid phases.展开更多

文摘In this paper, the mechatronic design and maneuverability analysis of a novel robotic shark are presented. To obtain good maneuverability,a barycenter regulating device is designed to assist the posture adjustment at low speeds.Based on the Newton-Euler approach,an analytical dynamic model is established with particular consideration of pectoral fins for threedimensional motions. The hydrodynamic coefficients are computed using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)methods.Oscillation amplitudes and phases are determined by fitting an optimized fish body wave. The performance of the robotic shark is estimated by varying the oscillation frequency and offset angle. The results show that with oscillation frequency increasing, the swimming speed increases linearly. The robotic shark reaches the maximum swimming speed of 1.05 m/s with an oscillation frequency of 1.2 Hz.Furthermore, the turning radius decreases nonlinearly as the offset angle increased. The robotic shark reaches the minimum turning radius of 1.4 times the body length with 0.2 Hz frequency and 12°offset angle. In the vertical plane,as the pectoral fin angle increases, the diving velocity increases nonlinearly with increase rate slowing down.

文摘Purpose:Research dynamics have long been a research interest. It is a macro perspective tool for discovering temporal research trends of a certain discipline or subject.A micro perspective of research dynamics, however, concerning a single researcher or a highly cited paper in terms of their citations and“citations of citations”(forward chaining)remains unexplored.Design/methodology/approach:In this paper,we use a cross-collection topic model to reveal the research dynamics of topic disappearance topic inheritance, and topic innovation in each generation of forward chaining.Findings:For highly cited work, scientific influence exists in indirect citations.Topic modeling can reveal how long this influence exists in forward chaining,as well as its influence.Research limitations:This paper measures scientific influence and indirect scientific influence only if the relevant words or phrases are borrowed or used in direct or indirect citations.Paraphrasing or semantically similar concept may be neglected in this research.Practical implications:This paper demonstrates that a scientific influence exists in indirect citations through its analysis of forward chaining. This can serve as an inspiration on how to adequately evaluate research influence.Originality:The main contributions of this paper are the following three aspects.First, besides research dynamics of topic inheritance and topic innovation,we model topic disappearance by using a cross-collection topic model.Second,we explore the length and character of the research impact through“citations of citations”content analysis. Finally,we analyze the research dynamics of artificial intelligence researcher Geoffrey Hinton’s publications and the topic dynamics of forward chaining.

文摘A new approach to modifying the stiffness and mass matrices of finite element models is presented to improve the calculation precision.By measuring the mode frequencies and shapes of both of the original and the new structures with changed stiffness and mass, the stiffness and mass matrices of the finite element model can be updated through matrices calculation and solving algebra equations.Taking a multi-freedom model as an example, the relation between the number of the modes and the correction precision of stiffness and mass matrix elements is researched. The facility and precision of the method are totally confirmed especially when the modeling error is known limited to a definite local range. The feasibility of the approach is proven by an effective engineering application to the model updating of a wing piece used in flutter test.
文摘Quasi-elastic neutron scattering(QENS) has many applications that are directly related to the development of highperformance functional materials and biological macromolecules, especially those containing some water. The r JRM is a new practical method suitable to fit QENS spectra from porous materials, where hydrogen atoms appear in both solid and liquid phases.
文摘The finite element analysis was carried out for a composite vertical axis wind turbine with lift-drag combined starting structures to ensure the structure safety of a vertical axis wind turbine(VAWT).The static and modal analysis of rotor of a composite vertical axis wind turbine was conducted by using ANSYS software. The relevant contour sketch of stress and deformation was obtained. The analysis was made for static structural mechanics, modal analysis of rotor and the total deformation and vibration profile to evaluate the influence on the working capability of the rotor. The analysis results show that the various structure parameters lie in the safety range of structural mechanics in the relative standards. The analysis showing the design safe to operate the rotor of a vertical axis wind turbine. The methods used in this study can be used as a good reference for the structural mechanics′analysis of VAWTs.

文摘It is stipulated in the China national document, named'The Economical Appraisal Methods for Construction Projects' that dynamic analysis should dominate the project economical appraisal methods. This paper has set up a dynamic investment forecast model for Yuanbaoshan Surface Coal Mine. Based on this model, the investment reliability using simulation and analytic methods has been analysed, and the probability that the designed internal rate of return can reach 8.4%, from economic points of view, have been also studied.

文摘The response of random plate and shell construction is analyzed with the stochastic finite element method (SFEM). Random material properties and geometric dimensions of construction are involved in this paper. A simplified isoparametric local average model is used to describe the random field. Numerical results of the examples indicate that the approach presented herein is an economical and efficient solution for such an analysis compared with Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).
