The CATIA software is used to design the 3D digital model of the shipborne early warning aircraft, and some measures are taken to reduce the RCS characteristics of the early warning aircraft at the same time. Based on the physical optics method and the equivalent electromagnetic flow method,the aircraft's RCS characteristics and strength distribution characteristics are simulated numerically, and compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft. The simulation results show that under the X radar band, when the incident wave pitching angle is 0?, compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft, the forward RCS average value of the conceptual shipborne early warning aircraft is reduced to 24.49%, the lateral RCS average value is reduced to 5.04%, and the backward RCS average value is reduced to 39.26%. The research results of this paper are expected to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the conceptual design and the stealth design of the shipborne early warning aircraft.展开更多

A combination of theory of inventive problem solving(TRIZ), morp...A hybrid conceptual design approach was introduced in this study to develop a conceptual design of oil palm polymer composite automotive crash box(ACB). A combination of theory of inventive problem solving(TRIZ), morphological charts and biomimetics was applied where the foremost requirements in terms of the material characteristics, function specifications, force identification, root cause analysis, geometry profile and design selection criteria were considered. The strategy was to use creations of nature to inspire five innovative conceptual designs of the ACB structure and the AHP method was applied to perform the pairwise analysis of selecting the best ACB conceptual design. A new conceptual design for a composite ACB was conceived bearing in mind the properties of natural fibre, unlike those of conventional materials such as steel alloys and aluminium alloys. The design with the highest ranking(26.6 %) was chosen as the final conceptual design, which was the one with a honeycomb structure for the outermost profile, reinforced with a spider web structure inside the part, supported by fibre foam structure extracted from the woodpecker sponge tissue at the centre to maximize the energy absorption capability. The new design could solve the problem of bending collapse which is a major cause of failure to absorb maximum impact energy for ACB during collision. However, the final conceptual design will still need several modifications for production and assembly purposes, which will be completed in a further study.展开更多

Then the most adaptive scheme can be generated through a procedure of comparison and evaluation. The procedure is essentially a multiple criteria decision-making problem. The traditional multiple criteria programming is not flexible enough in executing the system evaluation algorithm due to both the limited experimental data and the lack of human experiences. To make the CBR tool to be more efficient, a new method for the best choice among the feasible schemes based on the Fuzzy AHP using Fuzzy numbers (FFAHP) is proposed. Since the final results become a problem of ranking the mean of fuzzy numbers by the optimism of decision-maker using the FFAHP, its execution is much more intuitive and effective than with the traditional method.展开更多

Due to the importance and role of systems engineering in space mission developments, optimization of Omid's systems engineering as a milestone to its current and future generations is focused. In this regard systems ...Due to the importance and role of systems engineering in space mission developments, optimization of Omid's systems engineering as a milestone to its current and future generations is focused. In this regard systems engineering management organization as the basis of optimization work flow in the conceptual design phase is proposed for improvement. To improve the systems engineering management, an agile enhanced organization chart is developed that defines various system duties. This is a type of concurrent engineering approach that promotes direct communication and data interchange between the team members. Due to the importance of decision making in the conceptual design phase, two design matrices are constructed that portray merits of various design options in terms of improved satellite life as well as specific choices of remote sensing capability for the Omid second generation(Omid-2). Conceptual design optimization is explored considering several structural objectives as well as optimal solar energy absorption utilizing a multiple criteria decision making approach. The Eigenvector method is utilized to formulate the objective function via expert judgment. This approach is robust with respect to designer probable miss-judgment. The optimized version of Omid-2 turned out to be a passive Z-axis spin stabilized satellite made of hexagonal honeycomb configuration with carbon-epoxy side panels and Aluminum bottom plate.展开更多
The layout of the buckets for tunnel boring machine(TBM)directly affects the muck removal efficiency of cutterhead during excavation.In order to improve the muck removal performance for TBM,the optimal design of bucke...The layout of the buckets for tunnel boring machine(TBM)directly affects the muck removal efficiency of cutterhead during excavation.In order to improve the muck removal performance for TBM,the optimal design of bucket layout was investigated.The whole muck transfer process was simulated by discrete-element method(DEM),including the muck falling,colliding,pilling up,shoveling and transferring into the hopper.The muck model was established based on size distribution analysis of muck samples from the water-supply tunnel project in Jilin Province,China.Then,the influence of the bucket number and the interval angle between buckets on muck removal performance was investigated.The results indicated that,as the number of buckets increased from four to eight,the removed muck increased by 29%and the residual volume decreased by 40.5%,and the process became steadier.Different interval angles between buckets were corresponding to different removed muck irregularly,but the residual muck number increased generally with the angles.The optimal layout of buckets for the cutterhead in this tunnel project was obtained based on the simulation results,and the muck removal performance of the TBM was verified by the actual data in the engineering construction.展开更多
