The constitutive relationship of a transversely isotropic medium and Mohr-Coulomb criterion in which C and Ф vary with directions were employed, and a relative 3D elasto-plastic FEM code was developed, in which the important thing was to adopt a search-trial method to find the orientation angle (p) of shear failure plane (or weakest shear plane) with respect to the major principal stress as well as the corresponding C and Ф Taking an underground opening as the calculation object, the numerical analyses were carried out by using the FEM code for two cases of transversely isotropic rock and isotropic rock, respectively, and the computation results were compared. The soil consolidation characteristic has great influences on the long-term deformation for underground structures. A three-dimensional consolidation analysis method under the asymmetric loads is developed for porous layered soil based on Biot's classical theory. Time-displacement effects can be fully considered in this work and the analytical solutions are obtained by the state space approach in the Cartesian coordinate. The Laplace and double Fourier integral transform are applied to the state variables in order to reduce the partial differential equations into algebraic differential equations and easily obtain the state space solution. Starting from the governing equations of saturated porous soil, the basic relationship of state space variables is established between the ground surface and the arbitrary depth in the integral transform domain. Based on the continuity conditions and boundary conditions of the multi-layered pore soil model, the multi-layered pore half-space solutions are obtained by means of the transfer matrix method and the inverse integral transforms. The accuracy of proposed method is demonstrated with existing classical solutions. The results indicate that the porous homogenous soils as well as the porous non-homogenous layered soils can be considered in this proposed method. When the consolidation time factor is 0.01, the value of immediate consolidation settlement coefficient calculated by the weighted homogenous solution is 27.4% bigger than the one calculated by the non-homogeneity solution. When the consolidation time factor is 0.05, the value of excess pore water pressure for the weighted homogenous solution is 27.2% bigger than the one for the non-homogeneity solution. It is shown that the material non-homogeneity has a great influence on the long-term settlements and the dissipation process of excess pore water pressure.展开更多

The four typical prototypes are analyzed, including concrete foam, air, steel plate and concrete as the middle layer, and the upper and lower layers are concrete materials. The propagation characteristics of plane blast wave in the concrete structure are illustrated, including the propagation and attenuation of stress wave across the different interlayers, the wave reflection and transmission at layered interfaces, the peak value of stress in the lower concrete and the total energy distribution in various medium layers. The result shows that the role of soft interlayer in concrete structure is mainly due to its low wave impedance, the waveform of incident wave is changed, the stress wavelength is pull wide, the radial diffusion of energy is enhanced, and the stress amplitude of and the energy input into the third layer are reduced. Meanwhile,it has been also proved that the air interlayer is able to reduce the peak value of explosion wave which is obviously different from that of foamed material. As a result,it should be concerned about stress amplitude and energy in order to get the best protective structure.展开更多

Considering the problem of assigning limited defense weapons to incoming ballistic missiles, we illustrate how defense weapons, ballistic missiles, kill probability and effectiveness of defense(ED) are interrelated and how to understand this relationship for achieving the best allocation plan. Motivated by the queueing theory, in which the available resources are not sufficient to satisfy the demands placed upon them at all times, the layered deployed defense weapon is modeled as a queueing system to shoot Poisson arrived targets. Simultaneously, examples, of optimum intercepts allocation problems under different constraints are presented. The four theorems determine the allocation rules of intercepts to targets that maximize ED or minimize the cost to achieve a required ED.展开更多

First, a fictitious soil-pile model is employed to consider the effect of layered soil beneath pile toe on pile settlement behavior. Two approximation methods are proposed to simplify the nonlinear load transfer function and simulate the nonlinear compression of fictitious soil-pile, respectively. On this basis, an efficient program is developed. The procedures for determining the main parameters of mathematical model are discussed. Comparisons with two well-documented field experimental pile loading tests are conducted to verify the rationality of the present method. Further studies are also made to evaluate the practicability of the proposed approach when a soft substratum exists, and the results suggest that the proposed method can provide a constructive means for assessing the settlement of a single pile for use in engineering design.展开更多

Technique of surface-borehole electric potential was employed to study electric response of layered formation. The electric potential was obtained by solving Poisson equation with finite difference method. In the course of calculation, forward modeling wilth finite difference method was realized by adopting bandwidth non-zero storage technique and the incomplete Cholesky conjugate gradient method. The results show that method of surface-borehole can acquire anomalous electric potential corresponding tc geo-electric layers. In this work, the nonlocal elastic theory and classical plate theory(CLPT) are used to derive the governing equations. The element-free framework for analyzing the buckling behaviors of double layer circular graphene sheets(DLCGSs) relying on an elastic medium is proposed. Pasternak-type model is adopted to describe the elastic medium. Accordingly, the influences of boundary conditions, size of GSs and nonlocal parameters on the buckling behavior of DLCGSs are investigated. The results show that the OP buckling modes are only sensible to the van der Waals forces.展开更多

文摘Low-cost catalysts with high activity are in immediate demand for energy storage and conversion devices. In this study, polyvinyl pyrrolidone was used as a complexing agent to synthesize La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_(3)(LSCF)perovskite oxide. The obtained porous layered LSCF has a large specific surface area of 23.74 m^(2)/g,four times higher than that prepared by the traditional sol-gel method(5.08 m^(2)/g).The oxygen reduction reaction activity of the oxide in 0.1 mol/L KOH solution was studied using a rotating ring-disk electrode. In the tests, the initial potential of 0.88 V(vs.reversible hydrogen electrode)and the limiting diffusion current density of 5.02 mA/cm^(2)were obtained at 1600 r/min.Therefore,higher catalytic activity and stability were demonstrated, compared with the preparation of LSCF perovskite oxide by the traditional method.

文摘In order to cope with the increasing threat of the ballistic missile(BM)in a shorter reaction time, the shooting policy of the layered defense system needs to be optimized. The main decisionmaking problem of shooting optimization is how to choose the next BM which needs to be shot according to the previous engagements and results, thus maximizing the expected return of BMs killed or minimizing the cost of BMs penetration.Motivated by this, this study aims to determine an optimal shooting policy for a two-layer missile defense(TLMD)system. This paper considers a scenario in which the TLMD system wishes to shoot at a collection of BMs one at a time, and to maximize the return obtained from BMs killed before the system demise. To provide a policy analysis tool, this paper develops a general model for shooting decision-making,the shooting engagements can be described as a discounted reward Markov decision process. The index shooting policy is a strategy that can effectively balance the shooting returns and the risk that the defense mission fails, and the goal is to maximize the return obtained from BMs killed before the system demise. The numerical results show that the index policy is better than a range of competitors, especially the mean returns and the mean killing BM number.

文摘Long-term settlements for underground structures, such as tunnels and pipelines, are generally observed after the completion of construction in soft clay. It is shown that the material non-homogeneity has a great influence on the long-term settlements and the dissipation process of excess pore water pressure.

文摘Layered concrete media with different wave impedance materials under one-dimensional strain are studied by numerical simulation. As a result,it should be concerned about stress amplitude and energy in order to get the best protective structure.

文摘A layered charge composed of the JH-2 explosive enveloped by a thick-walled cylindrical casing(active aluminum/rubber and inert lithium fluoride/rubber composites) was designed and explosion experiments were conducted in a 1.3 m3tank and a 113 m3bunker.The blast parameters, including the quasistatic pressure(ΔpQS),special impulse(I),and peak overpressure(Δpmax),and images of the explosion process were recorded, and the influence of the Al content(30% and 50%) and Al particle size(1,10,and 50 μm) on the energy release of aluminum/rubber composites were investigated. The results revealed that the use of an active layer increased the peak overpressure generated by the primary blast wave,as well as the quasistatic pressure and special impulse related to fuel burning within tens of milliseconds after detonation. When the Al content was increased from 30% to 50%,the increases of ΔpQS and I were not obvious, and Δpmaxeven decreased, possibly because of decreased combustion efficiency and greater absorption of the blast wave energy for layers with 50% Al.Compared with the pure JH-2charge,the charge with 1 μm Al particles produced the highest Δpmax, indicating that better transient blast performance was generated by smaller Al particles. However, the charge with 10 μm Al particles showed the largest ΔpQSand I,suggesting that a stronger destructive effect occurred over a longer duration for charges that contained moderate 10 μm Al.

文摘One important mission of the strategic defense is to develop an integrated, layered ballistic missile defense system(BMDS). The four theorems determine the allocation rules of intercepts to targets that maximize ED or minimize the cost to achieve a required ED.

文摘A simplified approach is presented to analyze the single pile settlement in multilayered soil. Further studies are also made to evaluate the practicability of the proposed approach when a soft substratum exists, and the results suggest that the proposed method can provide a constructive means for assessing the settlement of a single pile for use in engineering design.

文摘The method in which a source is set on the surface and electric potential is received in the borehole is called surface-borehole electric potential technique. In addition, application of appropriate mathematical operator can improve the resolution. Moreover, overburden low resistivity layers have severe influence on measuring results of surface-borehole electric potential. However, bottom low resistivity layers play a positive role in the measurement.

文摘Combining periodic layered structure with three-dimensional cylindrical local resonators,a hybrid metastructure with improved wave isolation ability was designed and investigated through theoretical and numerical approaches. The metastructure is composed of periodic rubber layers and concrete layers embedded with three-dimensional resonators, which can be freely designed with multi local resonant frequencies to attenuate vibrations at required frequencies and widen the attenuation bandgap. The metastructure can also effectively attenuate seismic responses.Compared with layered rubber-based structures, the metastructure has more excellent wave attenuation effects with greater attenuation and wider bandgap.
文摘A successful simulation still requires the user to have good simulation knowledge and well developed modeling skills despite a large number of simulation software products available to users. This paper presents the design principles and implementation of a layered modeling system known as General-Purpose user-defined Modeling System (GPMS) which provides the user with multiple accesses to build a simulation model at three different levels of knowledge and skills. It does this by purpose-designed GPMS simulation language, which is briefly described in this paper.

文摘Possessing the unique and highly valuable properties, graphene sheets(GSs) have attracted increasing attention including that from the building engineer due to the fact that Graphene can be utilized to reinforce concrete and other building materials. The results show that the OP buckling modes are only sensible to the van der Waals forces.

文摘The purpose of this work is to predict the state of collapse in shallow tunnel in layered strata by using a new curved failure mechanism within the framework of upper bound theorem.Particular emphasis is first given to consider the effects of seepage forces and surface settlement.Furthermore, the Hoek-Brown nonlinear failure criterion is adopted to analyze the influence of different factors on the collapsing shape. Two different curve functions which describe two different rock layers are obtained by virtual work equations under the variational principle.According to the numerical results, the parameter B in Hoek-Brown failure criterion and the unit weights in different rock layers have a positive relationship with the size of collapsing block while pore pressure coefficient and the parameter A in Hoek-Brown failure criterion present a reverse tend.
