Based on a typical and c...A new scheme of adaptive control is proposed for a class of linear time-invariant( LTI) dynamical systems,especially in aerospace,with matched parametric uncertainties and input constraints. Based on a typical and conventional direct model reference adaptive control scheme,various modifications have been employed to achieve the goal. "C omposite model reference adaptive control"of higher performance is seam-lessly combined with "positive μ-mod",which consequently results in a smooth tracking trajectory despite of the input constraints. In addition,bounded-gain forgetting is utilized to facilitate faster convergence of parameter estimates. The stability of the closed-loop systemcan be guaranteed by using Lyapunov theory.The merits and effectiveness of the proposed method are illustrated by a numerical example of the longitudinal dynamical systems of a fixed-wing airplane.展开更多
The response of the train–bridge system has an obvious random behavior.A high traffic density and a long maintenance period of a track will result in a substantial increase in the number of trains running on a bridge...The response of the train–bridge system has an obvious random behavior.A high traffic density and a long maintenance period of a track will result in a substantial increase in the number of trains running on a bridge,and there is small likelihood that the maximum responses of the train and bridge happen in the total maintenance period of the track.Firstly,the coupling model of train–bridge systems is reviewed.Then,an ensemble method is presented,which can estimate the small probabilities of a dynamic system with stochastic excitations.The main idea of the ensemble method is to use the NARX(nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous input)model to replace the physical model and apply subset simulation with splitting to obtain the extreme distribution.Finally,the efficiency of the suggested method is compared with the direct Monte Carlo simulation method,and the probability exceedance of train responses under the vertical track irregularity is discussed.The results show that when the small probability of train responses under vertical track irregularity is estimated,the ensemble method can reduce both the calculation time of a single sample and the required number of samples.展开更多

The parameters of both the master and the slave gyros are assumed to be unknown in advance. The effects of model uncertainties and input nonlinearities are also taken into account. An appropriate adaptation law is proposed to tackle the gyros' unknown parameters. Based on the adaptation law and the finite-time control technique, proper control laws are introduced to ensure that the trajectories of the slave gyro converge to the trajectories of the master gyro in a given finite time. Simulation results show the applicability and the efficiency of the proposed finite-time controller.展开更多

Based on the project lemma and classical sector conditions, the conditions for the existence of solutions to this problem are obtained and expressed in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities. Terahertz(THz) communication is being considered as a potential solution to mitigate the demand for high bandwidth. The characteristic of THz band is relatively different from present wireless channel and imposes tech...Terahertz(THz) communication is being considered as a potential solution to mitigate the demand for high bandwidth. The characteristic of THz band is relatively different from present wireless channel and imposes technical challenges in the design and development of communication systems. Due to the high path loss in THz band,wireless THz communication can be used for relatively short distances. Even,for a distance of few meters( > 5 m),the absorption coefficient is very high and hence the performance of the system is poor. The use of multiple antennas for wireless communication systems has gained overwhelming interest during the last two decades.Multiple Input Multiple Output( MIMO) Spatial diversity technique has been exploited in this paper to improve the performance in terahertz band. The results show that the Bit Error Rate( BER) is considerably improved for short distance( < 5 m) with MIMO. However,as the distance increases,the improvement in the error performance is not significant even with increase in the order of diversity. This is because,as distance increases,in some frequency bands the signal gets absorbed by water vapor and results in poor transmission. Adaptive modulation scheme is implemented to avoid these error prone frequencies. Adaptive modulation with receiver diversity is proposed in this work and has improved the BER performance of the channel for distance greater than 5 m.展开更多
Input theory as a theoretical foundation in language teaching plays an important role in SLA.Though a wealth of re⁃search has been done by linguists to demonstrate the importance of language input in SLA,little has be...Input theory as a theoretical foundation in language teaching plays an important role in SLA.Though a wealth of re⁃search has been done by linguists to demonstrate the importance of language input in SLA,little has been written about the type and amount of language input for successful SLA,especially its processing model while acquiring a second language.This paper first discusses the Krashen’s input hypothesis in language learning,and then an introduction to Chaudron’s processing model of in⁃put is made.In the final part,the author explains the acquisition process based on word acquisition and grammar acquisition and concludes that in the process of acquiring a second language,the language learners reconstruct a new cognitive model by taking in consistent comprehensible language input.展开更多
