Enhanced Panoramic Image Generation with GAN and CLIP Models

Panoramic images, offering a 360-degree view, are essential in virtual reality(VR) and augmented reality(AR), enhancing realism with high-quality textures. However, acquiring complete and high-quality panoramic textures is challenging. This paper introduces a method using generative adversarial networks(GANs) and the contrastive language-image pretraining(CLIP) model to restore and control texture in panoramic images. The GAN model captures complex structures and maintains consistency, while CLIP enables fine-grained texture control via semantic text-image associations. GAN inversion optimizes latent codes for precise texture details. The resulting low dynamic range(LDR) images are converted to high dynamic range(HDR) using the Blender engine for seamless texture blending. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and flexibility of this method in panoramic texture restoration and generation. 展开更多

Modeling load distribution for rural photovoltaic grid areas using image recognition

Expanding photovoltaic(PV)resources in rural-grid areas is an essential means to augment the share of solar energy in the energy landscape,aligning with the“carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”objectives.However,rural power grids often lack digitalization;thus,the load distribution within these areas is not fully known.This hinders the calculation of the available PV capacity and deduction of node voltages.This study proposes a load-distribution modeling approach based on remote-sensing image recognition in pursuit of a scientific framework for developing distributed PV resources in rural grid areas.First,houses in remote-sensing images are accurately recognized using deep-learning techniques based on the YOLOv5 model.The distribution of the houses is then used to estimate the load distribution in the grid area.Next,equally spaced and clustered distribution models are used to adaptively determine the location of the nodes and load power in the distribution lines.Finally,by calculating the connectivity matrix of the nodes,a minimum spanning tree is extracted,the topology of the network is constructed,and the node parameters of the load-distribution model are calculated.The proposed scheme is implemented in a software package and its efficacy is demonstrated by analyzing typical remote-sensing images of rural grid areas.The results underscore the ability of the proposed approach to effectively discern the distribution-line structure and compute the node parameters,thereby offering vital support for determining PV access capability. 展开更多

Among hyperspectral imaging technologies, interferometric spectral imaging is widely used in remote sening due to advantages of large luminous flux and high resolution. However, with complicated mechanism, interferometric imaging faces the impact of multi-stage degradation. Most exsiting interferometric spectrum reconstruction methods are based on tradition model-based framework with multiple steps, showing poor efficiency and restricted performance. Thus, we propose an interferometric spectrum reconstruction method based on degradation synthesis and deep learning.Firstly, based on imaging mechanism, we proposed an mathematical model of interferometric imaging to analyse the degradation components as noises and trends during imaging. The model consists of three stages, namely instrument degradation, sensing degradation, and signal-independent degradation process. Then, we designed calibration-based method to estimate parameters in the model, of which the results are used for synthesizing realistic dataset for learning-based algorithms.In addition, we proposed a dual-stage interferogram spectrum reconstruction framework, which supports pre-training and integration of denoising DNNs. Experiments exhibits the reliability of our degradation model and synthesized data, and the effectiveness of the proposed reconstruction method. 展开更多

Advancing automated pupillometry:a practical deep learning model utilizing infrared pupil images

AIM:To establish pupil diameter measurement algorithms based on infrared images that can be used in real-world clinical settings.METHODS:A total of 188 patients from outpatient clinic at He Eye Specialist Shenyang Hospital from Spetember to December 2022 were included,and 13470 infrared pupil images were collected for the study.All infrared images for pupil segmentation were labeled using the Labelme software.The computation of pupil diameter is divided into four steps:image pre-processing,pupil identification and localization,pupil segmentation,and diameter calculation.Two major models are used in the computation process:the modified YoloV3 and Deeplabv 3+models,which must be trained beforehand.RESULTS:The test dataset included 1348 infrared pupil images.On the test dataset,the modified YoloV3 model had a detection rate of 99.98% and an average precision(AP)of 0.80 for pupils.The DeeplabV3+model achieved a background intersection over union(IOU)of 99.23%,a pupil IOU of 93.81%,and a mean IOU of 96.52%.The pupil diameters in the test dataset ranged from 20 to 56 pixels,with a mean of 36.06±6.85 pixels.The absolute error in pupil diameters between predicted and actual values ranged from 0 to 7 pixels,with a mean absolute error(MAE)of 1.06±0.96 pixels.CONCLUSION:This study successfully demonstrates a robust infrared image-based pupil diameter measurement algorithm,proven to be highly accurate and reliable for clinical application. 展开更多

The snapshot image mapping spectrometer(IMS) has advantages such as high temporal resolution,high throughput,compact structure and simple reconstructed algorithm.In recent years,it has been utilized in biomedicine,remote sensing,etc.However,the system errors and various factors can cause cross talk,image degradation and spectral distortion in the system.In this research,a theoretical model is presented along with the point response function(PRF) for the IMS,and the influence of the mirror tilt angle error of the image mapper and the prism apex angle error are analyzed based on the model.The results indicate that the tilt angle error causes loss of light throughput and the prism apex angle error causes spectral mixing between adjacent sub-images.The light intensity on the image plane is reduced to 95%when the mirror tilt angle error is increased to ±100 "(≈ 0.028°).The prism apex error should be controlled within the range of 0-36"(0.01°)to ensure the designed number of spectral bands,and avoid spectral mixing between adjacent images. 展开更多

The dynamic multichannel binocular visual image modeling is studied based on Internet of Things (IoT) Perception Layer, using mobile robot self-organizing network. By employing multigroup mobile robots with binocular visual system, the real visual images of the object will be obtained. Then through the mobile self-organizing network, a three-dimensional model is rebuilt by synthesizing the returned images. On this basis, we formalize a novel algorithm for multichannel binocular visual three-dimensional images based on fast three-dimensional modeling. Compared with the method based on single binocular visual system, the new algorithm can improve the Integrity and accuracy of the dynamic three-dimensional object modeling. The simulation results show that the new method can effectively accelerate the modeling speed, improve the similarity and not increase the data size. 展开更多

The random telegraph signal noise in the pixel source follower MOSFET is the principle component of the noise in the CMOS image sensor under low light. In this paper, the physical and statistical model of the random telegraph signal noise in the pixel source follower based on the binomial distribution is set up. The number of electrons captured or released by the oxide traps in the unit time is described as the random variables which obey the binomial distribution. As a result,the output states and the corresponding probabilities of the first and the second samples of the correlated double sampling circuit are acquired. The standard deviation of the output states after the correlated double sampling circuit can be obtained accordingly. In the simulation section, one hundred thousand samples of the source follower MOSFET have been simulated,and the simulation results show that the proposed model has the similar statistical characteristics with the existing models under the effect of the channel length and the density of the oxide trap. Moreover, the noise histogram of the proposed model has been evaluated at different environmental temperatures. 展开更多

Iterative static modeling of channelized reservoirs using history-matched facies probability data and rejection of training image

Most inverse reservoir modeling techniques require many forward simulations, and the posterior models cannot preserve geological features of prior models. This study proposes an iterative static modeling approach that utilizes dynamic data for rejecting an unsuitable training image(TI) among a set of TI candidates and for synthesizing history-matched pseudo-soft data. The proposed method is applied to two cases of channelized reservoirs, which have uncertainty in channel geometry such as direction, amplitude, and width. Distance-based clustering is applied to the initial models in total to select the qualified models efficiently. The mean of the qualified models is employed as a history-matched facies probability map in the next iteration of static models. Also, the most plausible TI is determined among TI candidates by rejecting other TIs during the iteration. The posterior models of the proposed method outperform updated models of ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF) and ensemble smoother(ES) because they describe the true facies connectivity with bimodal distribution and predict oil and water production with a reasonable range of uncertainty. In terms of simulation time, it requires 30 times of forward simulation in history matching, while the EnKF and ES need 9000 times and 200 times, respectively. 展开更多

In the sec- ond step, the discriminant-based methods or clustering-based methods are performed on the reformed distribution. It is focused on the typical clustering methods-Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and its variant to demonstrate the feasibility of the framework. Due to the independence of the first step in its second step, it can be integrated into the pixel-based and the histogram-based methods to improve their segmentation quality. 堆石混凝土坝层面的外露块石为上下层提供了重要的啮合作用,其投影面积比例是科学评价层间抗剪性能的重要指标。采用国际最新Meta AI模型segment anything model(SAM)对层面外露堆石进行自动图像分割,并基于ImageJ软件对SAM识别后的图... 堆石混凝土坝层面的外露块石为上下层提供了重要的啮合作用,其投影面积比例是科学评价层间抗剪性能的重要指标。采用国际最新Meta AI模型segment anything model(SAM)对层面外露堆石进行自动图像分割,并基于ImageJ软件对SAM识别后的图片进行再加工与图像计算,利用平滑、差分算法、中值滤波等方法精准标定外露堆石,二值化后计算得到层面露石率。结果表明:SAM图像预分割可识别约90%的外露堆石,经过ImageJ二次图像处理后可有效提高小粒径堆石的识别精度,对比手动标注结果误差在±3%以内。以贵州省两座水库的工程应用为例,对浇筑仓面进行分区预处理,结果发现靠近上游、中部、下游不同区域的露石率差别较大,计算得到的层面露石率以10%~30%居多,其中堆石入仓运输通道区域的露石率较低。研究内容与结论可为堆石混凝土结构层间界面抗剪力学性能和大坝蓄水安全稳定的研究提供参考与借鉴。 展开更多

In this paper,a novel method of ultra-lightweight convolution neural network(CNN)design based on neural architecture search(NAS)and knowledge distillation(KD)is proposed.It can realize the automatic construction of the space target inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR)image recognition model with ultra-lightweight and high accuracy.This method introduces the NAS method into the radar image recognition for the first time,which solves the time-consuming and labor-consuming problems in the artificial design of the space target ISAR image automatic recognition model(STIIARM).On this basis,the NAS model’s knowledge is transferred to the student model with lower computational complexity by the flow of the solution procedure(FSP)distillation method.Thus,the decline of recognition accuracy caused by the direct compression of model structural parameters can be effectively avoided,and the ultralightweight STIIARM can be obtained.In the method,the Inverted Linear Bottleneck(ILB)and Inverted Residual Block(IRB)are firstly taken as each block’s basic structure in CNN.And the expansion ratio,output filter size,number of IRBs,and convolution kernel size are set as the search parameters to construct a hierarchical decomposition search space.Then,the recognition accuracy and computational complexity are taken as the objective function and constraint conditions,respectively,and the global optimization model of the CNN architecture search is established.Next,the simulated annealing(SA)algorithm is used as the search strategy to search out the lightweight and high accuracy STIIARM directly.After that,based on the three principles of similar block structure,the same corresponding channel number,and the minimum computational complexity,the more lightweight student model is designed,and the FSP matrix pairing between the NAS model and student model is completed.Finally,by minimizing the loss between the FSP matrix pairs of the NAS model and student model,the student model’s weight adjustment is completed.Thus the ultra-lightweight and high accuracy STIIARM is obtained.The proposed method’s effectiveness is verified by the simulation experiments on the ISAR image dataset of five types of space targets. 展开更多

As a part of quantum image processing,quantum image filtering is a crucial technology in the development of quantum computing.Low-pass filtering can effectively achieve anti-aliasing effects on images.Currently,most quantum image filterings are based on classical domains and grayscale images,and there are relatively fewer studies on anti-aliasing in the quantum domain.This paper proposes a scheme for anti-aliasing filtering based on quantum grayscale and color image scaling in the spatial domain.It achieves the effect of anti-aliasing filtering on quantum images during the scaling process.First,we use the novel enhanced quantum representation(NEQR)and the improved quantum representation of color images(INCQI)to represent classical images.Since aliasing phenomena are more pronounced when images are scaled down,this paper focuses only on the anti-aliasing effects in the case of reduction.Subsequently,we perform anti-aliasing filtering on the quantum representation of the original image and then use bilinear interpolation to scale down the image,achieving the anti-aliasing effect.The constructed pyramid model is then used to select an appropriate image for upscaling to the original image size.Finally,the complexity of the circuit is analyzed.Compared to the images experiencing aliasing effects solely due to scaling,applying anti-aliasing filtering to the images results in smoother and clearer outputs.Additionally,the anti-aliasing filtering allows for manual intervention to select the desired level of image smoothness. 展开更多

High-angle annular dark field(HAADF)imaging in scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM)has become an indispensable tool in materials science due to its ability to offer sub-°A resolution and provide chemical information through Z-contrast.This study leverages large language models(LLMs)to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of a large amount of HAADF-related literature(more than 41000 papers).By using LLMs,specifically ChatGPT,we were able to extract detailed information on applications,sample preparation methods,instruments used,and study conclusions.The findings highlight the capability of LLMs to provide a new perspective into HAADF imaging,underscoring its increasingly important role in materials science.Moreover,the rich information extracted from these publications can be harnessed to develop AI models that enhance the automation and intelligence of electron microscopes. 展开更多

Virtual reality(VR) environment can provide immersive experience to viewers.Under the VR environment, providing a good quality of experience is extremely important.Therefore, in this paper, we present an image quality assessment(IQA) study on omnidirectional images. We first build an omnidirectional IQA(OIQA) database, including 16 source images with their corresponding 320 distorted images. We add four commonly encountered distortions. These distortions are JPEG compression, JPEG2000 compression, Gaussian blur, and Gaussian noise. Then we conduct a subjective quality evaluation study in the VR environment based on the OIQA database. Considering that visual attention is more important in VR environment, head and eye movement data are also tracked and collected during the quality rating experiments. The 16 raw and their corresponding distorted images,subjective quality assessment scores, and the head-orientation data and eye-gaze data together constitute the OIQA database. Based on the OIQA database, we test some state-of-the-art full-reference IQA(FR-IQA) measures on equirectangular format or cubic formatomnidirectional images. The results show that applying FR-IQA metrics on cubic format omnidirectional images could improve their performance. The performance of some FR-IQA metrics combining the saliency weight of three different types are also tested based on our database. In order to compensate for the deficiency of present methods of monitoring plane displacement in similarity model tests,such as inadequate real-time monitoring and more manual intervention,an effective monitoring method was proposed in this study,and the major steps of the monitoring method include:firstly,time-series images of the similarity model in the test were obtained by a camera,and secondly,measuring points marked as artificial targets were automatically tracked and recognized from time-series images.Finally,the real-time plane displacement field was calculated by the fixed magnification between objects and images under the specific conditions.And then the application device of the method was designed and tested.At the same time,a sub-pixel location method and a distortion error model were used to improve the measuring accuracy.The results indicate that this method may record the entire test,especially the detailed non-uniform deformation and sudden deformation.Compared with traditional methods this method has a number of advantages,such as greater measurement accuracy and reliability,less manual intervention,higher automation,strong practical properties,much more measurement information and so on. 展开更多

A quantum efficiency analytical model for complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor(CMOS) image pixels with a pinned photodiode structure is developed. The proposed model takes account of the non-uniform doping distribution in the N-type region due to the impurity compensation formed by the actual fabricating process. The characteristics of two boundary PN junctions located in the N-type region for the particular spectral response of a pinned photodiode, are quantitatively analyzed. By solving the minority carrier steady-state diffusion equations and the barrier region photocurrent density equations successively, the analytical relationship between the quantum efficiency and the corresponding parameters such as incident wavelength, N-type width, peak doping concentration, and impurity density gradient of the N-type region is established. The validity of the model is verified by the measurement results with a test chip of 160×160 pixels array,which provides the accurate process with a theoretical guidance for quantum efficiency design in pinned photodiode pixels. 展开更多

Segmentation of complex objects’ sonar images using parameter-fixed MRF model

The effective method of the recognition of underwater complex objects in sonar image is to segment sonar image into target, shadow and sea-bottom reverberation regions and then extract the edge of the object. Because of the time-varying and space-varying characters of underwater acoustics environment, the sonar images have poor quality and serious speckle noise, so traditional image segmentation is unable to achieve precise segmentation. In the paper, the image segmentation process based on MRF (Markov random field) model is studied, and a practical method of estimating model parameters is proposed. Through analyzing the impact of chosen model parameters, a sonar imagery segmentation algorithm based on fixed parameters’ MRF model is proposed. Both of the segmentation effect and the low computing load are gained. By applying the algorithm to the synthesized texture image and actual side-scan sonar image, the algorithm can be achieved with precise segmentation result. 展开更多

Medical X-Ray Image Enhancement Based on Kramer's PDE Model

The purpose of this study is to present an application of a novel enhancement technique for enhancing medical images generated from X-rays. The method presented in this study is based on a nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE) model, Kramer's PDE model. The usefulness of this method is investigated by experimental results. We apply this method to a medical X-ray image. For comparison, the X-ray image is also processed using classic Perona-Malik PDE model and Catte PDE model. Although the Perona-Malik model and Catte PDE model could also enhance the image, the quality of the enhanced images is considerably inferior compared with the enhanced image using Kramer's PDE model. The study suggests that the Kramer's PDE model is capable of enhancing medical X-ray images, which will make the X-ray images more reliable. 展开更多
