The concept of value of information(VOI)has been widely used in the oil industry when making decisions on the acquisition of new data sets for the development and operation of oil fields.The classical approach to VOI ...The concept of value of information(VOI)has been widely used in the oil industry when making decisions on the acquisition of new data sets for the development and operation of oil fields.The classical approach to VOI assumes that the outcome of the data acquisition process produces crisp values,which are uniquely mapped onto one of the deterministic reservoir models representing the subsurface variability.However,subsurface reservoir data are not always crisp;it can also be fuzzy and may correspond to various reservoir models to different degrees.The classical approach to VOI may not,therefore,lead to the best decision with regard to the need to acquire new data.Fuzzy logic,introduced in the 1960 s as an alternative to the classical logic,is able to manage the uncertainty associated with the fuzziness of the data.In this paper,both classical and fuzzy theoretical formulations for VOI are developed and contrasted using inherently vague data.A case study,which is consistent with the future development of an oil reservoir,is used to compare the application of both approaches to the estimation of VOI.The results of the VOI process show that when the fuzzy nature of the data is included in the assessment,the value of the data decreases.In this case study,the results of the assessment using crisp data and fuzzy data change the decision from"acquire"the additional data(in the former)to"do not acquire"the additional data(in the latter).In general,different decisions are reached,depending on whether the fuzzy nature of the data is considered during the evaluation.The implications of these results are significant in a domain such as the oil and gas industry(where investments are huge).This work strongly suggests the need to define the data as crisp or fuzzy for use in VOI,prior to implementing the assessment to select and define the right approach.展开更多

The acceleration of driver's seat and its time derivative are used as the inputs of the fuzzy logic controller, and the fuzzy logic controller output determines the semi-active suspension controllable damping force. The fuzzy logic controller is to minimize the mean square root of acceleration of the driver's seat. The control forces of controllable dampers behind the first road wheel are obtained by time delay, and the delay times are determined by the vehicle speed and axles distances. The simulation results show that this control method can decrease the acceleration of driver's seat and the suspension travel of the first road wheel, the ride quality is improved obviously.展开更多

The vibration control of suspension systems is a very important factor for modern track vehicles. A fuzzy logic control for suspension system of a track vehicle is presented. A mechanical model and a system of difft, rential equations of motion taking account of the mass of loading wheel are established. Then the fuzzy logic control is applied to control the vibration of suspension system of track vehicles for sine signal and random road surfaces. Numerical simulation shows that the maximum acceleration of suspension system can be reduced to 44 % of the original value for sine signal road surface, and the mean square root of acceleration of suspension system can be reduced to 21% for random road surface. Therefore, the proposed fuzzy logic control is an efficient method for the suspension systems of track vehicles.展开更多

In recent years,unmanned air vehicles(UAVs)are widely used in many military and civilian applications.With the big amount of UAVs operation in air space,the potential security and privacy problems are arising.This can...In recent years,unmanned air vehicles(UAVs)are widely used in many military and civilian applications.With the big amount of UAVs operation in air space,the potential security and privacy problems are arising.This can lead to consequent harm for critical infrastructure in the event of these UAVs being used for criminal or terrorist purposes.Therefore,it is crucial to promptly identify the suspicious behaviors from the surrounding UAVs for some important regions.In this paper,a novel fuzzy logic based UAV behavior detection system has been presented to detect the different levels of risky behaviors of the incoming UAVs.The heading velocity and region type are two input indicators proposed for the risk indicator output in the designed fuzzy logic based system.The simulation has shown the effective and feasible of the proposed algorithm in terms of recall and precision of the detection.Especially,the suspicious behavior detection algorithm can provide a recall of 0.89 and a precision of 0.95 for the high risk scenario in the simulation.展开更多

The SAW bead-on-plates were welded by following a full factorial desi...A fuzzy model was presented to predict the weldment shape profile of submerged arc welds (SAW) including the shape of heat affected zone (HAZ). The SAW bead-on-plates were welded by following a full factorial design matrix. The design matrix consisted of three levels of input welding process parameters. The welds were cross-sectioned and etched, and the zones were measured. A mapping technique was used to measure the various segments of the weld zones. These mapped zones were used to build a fuzzy logic model. The membership functions of the fuzzy model were chosen for the accurate prediction of the weld zone. The fuzzy model was further tested for a set of test case data. The weld zone predicted by the fuzzy logic model was compared with the experimentally obtained shape profiles and close agreement between the two was noted. The mapping technique developed for the weld zones and the fuzzy logiemodel earl be used for on-line control of the SAW process. From the SAW fuzzy logic model an estimation of the fusion and HAZ can also be developed.展开更多

Firstly, power system integration is analyzed and modeled. Then the control algorithm is given. Two fuzzy logics are used to realize the coordination control over each power unit. One controls power distribution based on the load power and battery state of charge (SOC). The other manage the power during regenerating braking. To validate the presented control strategy, a "driver and controller" in the loop simulation platform is built based on dSPACE system and real-time simulation is made. However, the ste...Making full use of wind power is one of the main purposes of the wind turbine generator control. Conventional hill climbing search (HCS) method can realize the maximum power point tracking (MPPT). However, the step size of HCS method is constant so that it cannot consider both steady-state response and dynamic response. A fuzzy logical control (FLC) algorithm is proposed to solve this problem in this paper, which can track the maximum power point (MPP) quickly and smoothly. To evaluate MPPT algorithms, four performance indices are also proposed in this paper. They are the energy captured by wind turbine, the maximum power-point tracking time when wind speed changes slowly, the fluctuation magnitude of real power during steady state, and the energy captured by wind turbine when wind speed changes fast. Three cases are designed and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink respectively. The comparison of the three MPPT strategies concludes that the proposed fuzzy logical control algorithm is more superior to the conventional HCS algorithms.展开更多

The principle and requirement of slowdriving function were analyzed. Based on analysis of slow driving characteristic,identification of slowdriving condition and fuzzy control algorithm,a control strategy of the clutch was designed. In order to realize slowdriving,the clutch was controlled in a slipping mode as manual driving. The vehicle speed was increased to a required speed and kept in a small range by engaging or disengaging the clutch to the approximate half engagement point. Based on the control strategy,a control software was designed and tested on a tracked vehicle with AMT. The test results showthat the control of the clutch with the slowdriving function was smoother than that with original systemand the vehicle speed was slower and steadier.展开更多

The fuzzy logic controller is able to perform effectively even in situations where the information about the plant is inaccurate and the operating conditions are uncertain. Based on the proportional navigation, the fuzzy logic and the genetic algorithm are combined to develop an evolutionary fuzzy navigation law with self-adapt region for the air-to-air missile guidance. The line of sight (LOS) rate and the closing speed between the missile and the target are inputs of the fuzzy controller. The output of the fuzzy controller is the commanded acceleration. Then a nonlinear function based on the conventional fuzzy logic control is imported to change the region. This nonlinear function can be changed with the input variables. So the dynamic change of the fuzzy variable region is achieved. The guidance law is optimized by the genetic algorithm. Simulation results of air-to-air missile attack using MATLAB show that the method needs less acceleration and shorter flying time, and its realization is simple.[KH*3/4D]展开更多

Recently artificia...Reliable on line cutting tool conditioning monitoring is an essential feature of automatic machine tool and flexible manufacturing system (FMS) and computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS). Recently artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used for this purpose in conjunction with suitable sensory systems. The present work in Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) uses back propagation neural networks (BP) and fuzzy neural networks (FNN) to process the cutting tool state data measured with force and acoustic emission (AE) sensors, and implements a valuable on line tool condition monitoring system using the ANNs. Different ANN structures are designed and investigated to estimate the tool wear state based on the fusion of acoustic emission and force signals. Finally, four case studies are introduced for the sensing and ANN processing of the tool wear states and the failures of the tool with practical experiment examples. The results indicate that a tool wear identification system can be achieved using the sensors integration with ANNs, and that ANNs provide a very effective method of implementing sensor integration for on line monitoring of tool wear states and abnormalities.展开更多

A major difficulty of anomaly ID is that patterns of the normal behavior change with time. In addition, an actual intrusion with a small deviation may match normal patterns. So the intrusion behavior cannot be detected by the detection system.To solve the problem, fuzzy data mining technique is utilized to extract patterns representing the normal behavior of a network. A set of fuzzy association rules mined from the network data are shown as a model of “normal behaviors”. To detect anomalous behaviors, fuzzy association rules are generated from new audit data and the similarity with sets mined from “normal” data is computed. If the similarity values are lower than a threshold value,an alarm is given. Furthermore, genetic algorithms are used to adjust the fuzzy membership functions and to select an appropriate set of features.展开更多

The methodology is based on fuzzy logic to deal with imprecision and subjectivity through mathematical representations of linguistic vagueness, and is a computing system based on the concepts of fuzzy set theory, fuzzy if-then rules, and fuzzy reasoning. Five indexes are used to characterize hydraulic fracture quality, reservoir characteristics, operational parameters, initial conditions, and production related to the selection of re-fracturing well, and each index includes 3 related parameters. The value of each index/parameter is grouped into three categories that are low, medium, and high. For each category, a trapezoidal membership function all related rules are defined. The related parameters of an index are input into the rule-based fuzzy-inference system to output value of the index. Another fuzzy-inference system is built with the reservoir index, operational index, initial condition index and production index as input parameters and re-fracturing potential index as output parameter to screen out re-fracturing wells. The norm bounded disturbances which are composed of interactive forces among adjacent carriages and basis running resistances are rearranged by the fuzzy linearity technique. The modeled disturbances described as an exogenous system are compensated for by a disturbance observer. Moreover, a sliding mode surface is constructed, which can transform the stabilization problem of position and velocity into the stabilization problem of position errors and velocity errors, i.e., the tracking problem of position and velocity. Based on the parallel distributed compensation method and the disturbance observer, the fault-tolerant controller is solved. The Lyapunov theory is used to prove the stability of the closed-loop system. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control strategy are illustrated by simulation results.展开更多

文摘On the basis of analyzing the system constitution of vehicle semi-active suspension, a 4-DOF (degree of freedom) dynamic model is established. A tunable fuzzy logic controller is designed by using without quantification method and taking into account the uncertainty, nonlinearity and complexity of parameters for a vehicle suspension system. Simulation to test the performance of this controller is performed under random excitations and definite disturbances of a C grade road, and the effects of time delay and changes of system parameters on the vehicle suspension system are researched. The numerical simulation shows that the performance of the designed tunable fuzzy logic controller is effective, stable and reliable.
文摘Cancelled the first axiom L1) or the third axiom L3) of the classical formal logic system we established two kinds of quasi-formal deductive system, LG-R^* and LG^* respectively. In LG-R^* we proved that neither the deduction theorem nor the hypothetical syllogism (HS) rule held but a deduction theorem and an HS rule are obtained in a weak sense. We also proved that both the deduction theorem and the hypothetical syllogism(HS) rule hold in LG^*.
文摘The underwater target recognition is a key technology in acoustic confrontation and underwater defence. In this article, a recognition system based on fuzzy logic inference (FLI) is set up. This system is mainly composed of three parts: the fuzzy input module, the fuzzy logic inference module with a set of inference rules and the de-fuzzy output module. The inference result shows the recognition system is effective in most conditions.

文摘In order to move tracked vehicles at an extremely slowspeed with automated mechanical transmission( AMT),slowdriving function was added in the original system. The principle and requirement of slowdriving function were analyzed. Based on analysis of slow driving characteristic,identification of slowdriving condition and fuzzy control algorithm,a control strategy of the clutch was designed. In order to realize slowdriving,the clutch was controlled in a slipping mode as manual driving. The vehicle speed was increased to a required speed and kept in a small range by engaging or disengaging the clutch to the approximate half engagement point. Based on the control strategy,a control software was designed and tested on a tracked vehicle with AMT. The test results showthat the control of the clutch with the slowdriving function was smoother than that with original systemand the vehicle speed was slower and steadier.
文摘Effective guidance is one of the most important tasks to the performance of air-to-air missile. The fuzzy logic controller is able to perform effectively even in situations where the information about the plant is inaccurate and the operating conditions are uncertain. Based on the proportional navigation, the fuzzy logic and the genetic algorithm are combined to develop an evolutionary fuzzy navigation law with self-adapt region for the air-to-air missile guidance. The line of sight (LOS) rate and the closing speed between the missile and the target are inputs of the fuzzy controller. The output of the fuzzy controller is the commanded acceleration. Then a nonlinear function based on the conventional fuzzy logic control is imported to change the region. This nonlinear function can be changed with the input variables. So the dynamic change of the fuzzy variable region is achieved. The guidance law is optimized by the genetic algorithm. Simulation results of air-to-air missile attack using MATLAB show that the method needs less acceleration and shorter flying time, and its realization is simple.[KH*3/4D]
文摘Reliable on line cutting tool conditioning monitoring is an essential feature of automatic machine tool and flexible manufacturing system (FMS) and computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS). Recently artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used for this purpose in conjunction with suitable sensory systems. The present work in Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) uses back propagation neural networks (BP) and fuzzy neural networks (FNN) to process the cutting tool state data measured with force and acoustic emission (AE) sensors, and implements a valuable on line tool condition monitoring system using the ANNs. Different ANN structures are designed and investigated to estimate the tool wear state based on the fusion of acoustic emission and force signals. Finally, four case studies are introduced for the sensing and ANN processing of the tool wear states and the failures of the tool with practical experiment examples. The results indicate that a tool wear identification system can be achieved using the sensors integration with ANNs, and that ANNs provide a very effective method of implementing sensor integration for on line monitoring of tool wear states and abnormalities.
文摘An intrusion detection (ID) model is proposed based on the fuzzy data mining method. A major difficulty of anomaly ID is that patterns of the normal behavior change with time. In addition, an actual intrusion with a small deviation may match normal patterns. So the intrusion behavior cannot be detected by the detection system.To solve the problem, fuzzy data mining technique is utilized to extract patterns representing the normal behavior of a network. A set of fuzzy association rules mined from the network data are shown as a model of “normal behaviors”. To detect anomalous behaviors, fuzzy association rules are generated from new audit data and the similarity with sets mined from “normal” data is computed. If the similarity values are lower than a threshold value,an alarm is given. Furthermore, genetic algorithms are used to adjust the fuzzy membership functions and to select an appropriate set of features.
文摘Aim To build an adaptive fuzzy neural controller and simulate it. Methods\ Fuzzy logic and back propagation(BP) algorithm are combined to utilize their advantages while avoiding the disadvantages. Results and Conclusion\ Simulation results of the third order plant with disturbances and dead times show the validity of the presented controller. The presented controller can control cases that preceding controllers were unable to control.
文摘An artificial-intelligence based decision-making protocol is developed for tight gas sands to identify re-fracturing wells and used in case studies. The methodology is based on fuzzy logic to deal with imprecision and subjectivity through mathematical representations of linguistic vagueness, and is a computing system based on the concepts of fuzzy set theory, fuzzy if-then rules, and fuzzy reasoning. Five indexes are used to characterize hydraulic fracture quality, reservoir characteristics, operational parameters, initial conditions, and production related to the selection of re-fracturing well, and each index includes 3 related parameters. The value of each index/parameter is grouped into three categories that are low, medium, and high. For each category, a trapezoidal membership function all related rules are defined. The related parameters of an index are input into the rule-based fuzzy-inference system to output value of the index. Another fuzzy-inference system is built with the reservoir index, operational index, initial condition index and production index as input parameters and re-fracturing potential index as output parameter to screen out re-fracturing wells. This approach was successfully validated using published data.

文摘The fault-tolerant control problem is investigated for high-speed trains with actuator faults and multiple disturbances.Based on the novel train model resulting from the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy theory, a sliding-mode fault-tolerant control strategy is proposed. The norm bounded disturbances which are composed of interactive forces among adjacent carriages and basis running resistances are rearranged by the fuzzy linearity technique. The modeled disturbances described as an exogenous system are compensated for by a disturbance observer. Moreover, a sliding mode surface is constructed, which can transform the stabilization problem of position and velocity into the stabilization problem of position errors and velocity errors, i.e., the tracking problem of position and velocity. Based on the parallel distributed compensation method and the disturbance observer, the fault-tolerant controller is solved. The Lyapunov theory is used to prove the stability of the closed-loop system. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control strategy are illustrated by simulation results.
