Serviceability and running safety of the high-speed train on/through a bridge are of major concern in China.Due to the uncertainty chain of the train dynamic analysis in crosswinds originating mainly from the aerodyna...Serviceability and running safety of the high-speed train on/through a bridge are of major concern in China.Due to the uncertainty chain of the train dynamic analysis in crosswinds originating mainly from the aerodynamic assessment,this paper primarily reviews five meaningful progresses on the aerodynamics of the train-bridge system done by Wind Tunnel Laboratory of Central South University in the past several years.Firstly,the flow around the train and the uncertainty origin of the aerodynamic assessment are described from the fluid mechanism point of view.After a brief introduction of the current aerodynamic assessment methods with their strengths and weaknesses,a new-developed TRAIN-INFRASTRUCTURE rig with the maximum launch speed of 35 m/s is introduced.Then,several benchmark studies are presented,including the statistic results of the characterized geometry parameters of the currently utilized bridge-decks,the aerodynamics of the train,and the aerodynamics of the flat box/truss bridge-decks.Upon compared with the foregoing mentioned benchmarks,this paper highlights the aerodynamic interference of the train-bridge system associated with its physical natures.Finally,a porosity-and orientation-adjustable novel wind barrier with its effects on the aerodynamics of the train-bridge system is discussed.展开更多
Modelling and simulation of projectile flight is at the core of ballistic computer software and is essential to the study of performance of rifles and projectiles in various engagement conditions.An effective and repr...Modelling and simulation of projectile flight is at the core of ballistic computer software and is essential to the study of performance of rifles and projectiles in various engagement conditions.An effective and representative numerical model of projectile flight requires a relatively good approximation of the aerodynamics.The aerodynamic coefficients of the projectile model should be described as a series of piecewise polynomial functions of the Mach number that ideally meet the following conditions:they are continuous,differentiable at least once,and have a relatively low degree.The paper provides the steps needed to generate such piecewise polynomial functions using readily available tools,and then compares Piecewise Cubic Hermite Interpolating Polynomial(PCHIP),cubic splines,and piecewise linear functions,and their variant,as potential curve fitting methods to approximate the aerodynamics of a generic small arms projectile.A key contribution of the paper is the application of PCHIP to the approximation of projectile aerodynamics,and its evaluation against a set of criteria.Finally,the paper provides a baseline assessment of the impact of the polynomial functions on flight trajectory predictions obtained with 6-degree-of-freedom simulations of a generic projectile.展开更多
A hypersonic aerodynamics analysis of an electromagnetic gun(EM gun) launched projectile configuration is undertaken in order to ameliorate the basic aerodynamic characteristics in comparison with the regular projecti...A hypersonic aerodynamics analysis of an electromagnetic gun(EM gun) launched projectile configuration is undertaken in order to ameliorate the basic aerodynamic characteristics in comparison with the regular projectile layout.Static margin and pendulum motion analysis models have been applied to evaluate the flight stability of a new airframe configuration.With a steady state computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation,the basic density,pressure and velocity contours of the EM gun projectile flow field at Mach number 5.0,6.0 and 7.0(angle of attack=0°) have been analyzed.Furthermore,the static margin values are enhanced dramatically for the EM gun projectile with configuration optimization.Drag,lift and pitch property variations are all illustrated with the changes of Mach number and angle of attack.A particle ballistic calculation was completed for the pendulum analysis.The results show that the configuration optimized projectile,launched from the EM gun at Mach number 5.0 to 7.0,acts in a much more stable way than the projectiles with regular aerodynamic layout.展开更多
An impact angle constrained fuzzy adaptive fault tolerant integrated guidance and control method for Ski-to-Turn(STT)missiles subject to unsteady aerodynamics and multiple disturbances is proposed.Unsteady aerodynamic...An impact angle constrained fuzzy adaptive fault tolerant integrated guidance and control method for Ski-to-Turn(STT)missiles subject to unsteady aerodynamics and multiple disturbances is proposed.Unsteady aerodynamics appears when flight vehicles are in a transonic state or confronted with unstable airflow.Meanwhile,actuator failures and multisource model uncertainties are introduced.However,the boundaries of these multisource uncertainties are assumed unknown.The target is assumed to execute high maneuver movement which is unknown to the missile.Furthermore,impact angle constraint puts forward higher requirements for the interception accuracy of the integrated guidance and control(IGC)method.The impact angle constraint and the precise interception are established as the object of the IGC method.Then,the boundaries of the lumped disturbances are estimated,and several fuzzy logic systems are introduced to compensate the unknown nonlinearities and uncertainties.Next,a series of adaptive laws are developed so that the undesirable effects arising from unsteady aerodynamics,actuator failures and unknown uncertainties could be suppressed.Consequently,an impact angle constrained fuzzy adaptive fault tolerant IGC method with three loops is constructed and a perfect hit-to-kill interception with specified impact angle can be implemented.Eventually,the numerical simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.展开更多
