In the case of language teachers who teaching in the ethnically plural countries, for instance, China, the United States, language teachers have to face to various difficulties on the process of teaching in the bilingual class. Currently, the advanced technology is gradually being applied into language teaching, and then provides a series of advantages on improving the quality of language teaching. Firstly, the essay will analyse the barriers which exist in the language class, which in the level of Chinese university. Bilingual education has more than 50-years' history in the world.It has gained the attention from the world since 1960s in some western countries,such as the USA and Canada.With the growth of international business and the appearance of the global village,bilingual education has become a hot issue in China.This article generally outlines the picture of bilingual education in the world.Then,it describes the development of bilingualism under Chinese contexts.Above all,the models of the bilingual education have been explicitly introduced to build up the basis for further investigation.Besides,the two main periods of the bilingual education in China have been described based on the empirical literature.In the end,the influential factors of the development of bilingual education have been discussed from five main perspectives:economic,social,educational,cultural and political framework.However,there is a lack of documentary resources and experimental materials for the scaffolding of bilingual education in China,which requires further investigation. 展开更多

Objective:To investigate the neural electrophysiologieal activity underlying Chinese and Eng- lish Stroop tasks for Chinese English bilinguals.Methods:Event-related potentials(ERPs)were recorded in 14 Chinese bilinguals with a moderate command of English when they performed the Stroop task pre- sented in English words and Chinese characters,respectively.Results:In Chinese task version,it was found an increased positivity over bilateral front-polar regions on incongruent trials compared with congru- ent trials,followed by an increased negativity over fronto-central region and an increased positivity over occipital region.While in English task version,only the increased negativity was observed over fronto-cen- tral region,but with reduced amplitude and anterior distribution.Conclusion:This increased negativity was proposed as an index of the resolution processes of conflicting information in the incongruent situa- tion.The increased positivity over occipital region on Chinese incongruent trials may indicate visually rechecking effect for Chinese character. 展开更多

The present study applies Dr.He Yuanjian's CMT(Conceptual Mapping Theory) to focus on the strategy use of translating Chinese folklore concepts in Hong Lou Meng(i.e.indigenous concepts related to etiquettes and customs) by Yang Xianyi and his wife Gladys Yang on the observations of the translators'strategies and the distributional tendencies of translation strategies so as to testify CMT on empirical grounds.Whether it holds true that the preservation of the alien source concepts through translation depends on how successfully they are mapped into the target conceptual system leads to the attempts to study on the distributional tendency of translation strategies of translation tasks,especially,of translating folkloric concepts in this paper.As a result,the tentative outcome of the data observed supports that the concept-mediation theoretic approach to translation process seems able to account for how cognitive constraints affect the production of mapping the unshared concepts. 展开更多
