Design/methodology/approach: We studied 30 experienced mobile Web users via questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and an online diary tool that participants used to record their daily search activities. SQLite Developer was used to extract data from the users' phone logs for correlation analysis in Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS). Findings: One quarter of mobile search sessions were driven by two or more search motivations. It was especially difficult to distinguish curiosity from time killing in particular user reporting. Multi-dimensional contexts and motivations influenced mobile search behaviors, and among the context dimensions, gender, place, activities they engaged in while searching, task importance, portal, and interpersonal relations (whether accompanied or alone when searching) correlated with each other. Research limitations: The sample was comprised entirely of college students, so our findings may not generalize to other populations. More participants and longer experimental duration will improve the accuracy and objectivity of the research. Practical implications: Motivation analysis and search context recognition can help mobile service providers design applications and services for particular mobile contexts and usages. Design/methodology/approach: Our study investigates the mobile library system’s acceptance by using a context-specific extension of the theory of reasoned action(TRA) and the technology acceptance model(TAM), which includes such factors as mobile self-efficacy, personal innovativeness and perceived playfulness. Structural equation modeling was used to test the validity of the proposed model based on the empirical data which was collected from 210 questionnaire survey participants.Findings: The result shows that 1) for both current users and potential adopters, attitude toward use and subjective norm both have a significant and positive impact on behavioral intention to use; 2) perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are significantly correlated to potential adopters’ attitude toward use whereas perceived usefulness and perceived playfulness are significantly related to current users’ attitude toward use; 3) as for the comparison between the two groups of users, personal innovativeness not only affects perceived usefulness of both current users and potential adopters, but also affects potential adopters’ perceived playfulness positively. Mobile self-efficacy has a significant effect on perceived ease of use for both types of users.Research limitations: Although the sample size met the basic statistics requirements for the social research, the participants were mainly college students, and other mobile system users like faculty members and researchers were not investigated. In addition, some influencing factors, such as information quality, system quality and service quality were not considered in the research model.Practical implications: This study reveals main factors which influence both current users and potential adopters’ intention to use the mobile system, providing academic libraries withinsights into management strategies to offer customized mobile services to different types of users. Originality/value: Previous studies did not distinguish current users from potential adopters, which is not conducive for academic libraries to provide customized services and attract potential users. We presented an exploratory study to address this issue.展开更多

However, mobility is an essential feature of mobile communications networks. In this paper, the detection performance of spectrum sensing by mobile SUs was analyzed. Three performance metrics,i.e.,detection probability, miss detection probability and false alarm probability, were thoroughly investigated. In our analysis,a critical variable was the real-time received primary user signal power by a mobile SU. Its probability distribution and mathematical expectation were analytically derived. Moreover, the three performance metrics in single-node spectrum sensing and multi-node collaborative spectrum sensing systems were also derived. Extensive simulations were performed. The results are consistent with the theoretical analysis. And it is concluded that SU mobility has a significant impact on the detection probability and the miss detection probability, but not on the false alarm probability.展开更多

The participants were college students and a total of 255 valid questionnaires were collected. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis.Findings: Grade level and single-parent family background were found to be significantly correlated with information sharing behaviors whereas no effect of gender was found on information sharing behaviors. Dating status had no significant impact on user browsing behavior, but was related to users' publishing posts and posting replies.Implications: The study will help understand individual differences in information sharing among WeChat users.Limitations: First, the relatively small sample size is a limitation in exploring the effects of demographic variables on user information sharing behaviors. Second, this study only used questionnaire surveys to collect data and more research methods such as interviews should be adopted to improve the accuracy of the study results.Originality/value: This paper is one of the first studies to explore the relationship between demographic variables and user information sharing behaviors on WeChat.展开更多

We presented an exploratory study to address this issue.

文摘The majority of existing papers about spectrum sensing have the assumption that secondary users(SUs) are stationary. And it is concluded that SU mobility has a significant impact on the detection probability and the miss detection probability, but not on the false alarm probability.
文摘Purpose:As smartphones become ubiquitous,it is important to understand emerging information behavior as a result of wide spread use of smartphones. The purpose of this study is to investigate information behavior in the mobile environment by studying undergraduate smartphone users in China.Design/methodology/approach:This study is based on a survey of 205 undergraduate students in China.Findings:Smartphones are used predominantly for accessing news and connecting to social media, rather than for academic purposes such as accessing library resources or researching. While students use smartphones for reading e-books,much of this reading is recreational during their spare time.Research limitations:The inherent limitations of self-reported measures and the small sample size of this study mean that the results cannot be generalized across different age groups and cultures.Practical implications:When targeting users on the move, information professionals should be aware that the needs and behaviors of smartphone readers are significantly different compared to users of fixed devices, and should provide services in a mobile-friendly way.Originality/value:The younger generation is accustomed to instant information access. For libraries to relevant, they must redesign their services. It is important for libraries to leverage the strengths of mobile technology and to balance traditional services with mobile delivery.Even though many mobile users will use desktop or laptop computers to access library resources, they will benefit from the availability of mobile-friendly library services.

文摘The advances in biological sensors have resulted in rapid development of various remote medical care systems, which enable extended independent living at home and improvement of quality of life for individuals. Now,it is possible for us to monitor not only people's physical health but also mental health. Considering the incomplete utilization of mental sensors and electronic health record in most Remote medical care systems,we propose a remote medical care system to monitor people's physical and mental health, with the help of ontology model for with Electronic health record knowledge. In this study, the system architecture will be presented first. Then health solutions about the EHR and emotion(the ontology model of EHR and the emotion detection method) are shown. And fi nally, some preliminary tests are given out to show this system's practicability and novelty.
文摘This paper describes the current situation concerning security in an IP mobile world. It focuses on the problem of inter-domain WLAN roaming. Interoperability and adaptability issues are introduced when a mobile node roams across networks with different settings. The possibility of implementing different authentication schemes for handover operations in terms of quality of service (QoS) and security requirements is analyzed.Factors affecting handover latency and packet loss are presented. There are numerous fast handover solutions for intra-domain roaming. The possibility of their implementation for global roaming is studied.

文摘Purpose: We conducted an empirical study to find out the role of demographic variables in affecting information sharing behaviors of college student users of WeChat.Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire survey was carried out to investigate the relationship between demographic variables (gender, grade level, dating status, and singleparent family background) and information sharing behaviors of WeChat users. Second, this study only used questionnaire surveys to collect data and more research methods such as interviews should be adopted to improve the accuracy of the study results.Originality/value: This paper is one of the first studies to explore the relationship between demographic variables and user information sharing behaviors on WeChat.

文摘In this paper,we investigate a multi-UAV aided NOMA communication system, where multiple UAV-mounted aerial base stations are employed to serve ground users in the downlink NOMA communication, and each UAV serves its associated users on its own bandwidth. We aim at maximizing the overall common throughput in a finite time period.Such a problem is a typical mixed integer nonlinear problem, which involves both continuous-variable and combinatorial optimizations. To efficiently solve this problem,we propose a two-layer algorithm, which separately tackles continuous-variable and combinatorial optimization.Specifically,in the inner layer given one user association scheme, subproblems of bandwidth allocation, power allocation and trajectory design are solved based on alternating optimization. In the outer layer,a small number of candidate user association schemes are generated from an initial scheme and the best solution can be determined by comparing all the candidate schemes. In particular,a clustering algorithm based on K-means is applied to produce all candidate user association schemes, the successive convex optimization technique is adopted in the power allocation subproblem and a logistic function approximation approach is employed in the trajectory design subproblem.Simulation results show that the proposed NOMA scheme outperforms three baseline schemes in downlink common throughput, including one solution proposed in an existing literature.

文摘Many specified business needs in enterprise context cannot be effectively satisfied using current business process technology. This phenomenon is called the "long tail" of business processes. In addition, more and more business applications need to be accessed from mobile devices such as smartphones by enterprise end users. This paper attempts to solve both two challenges above.A lightweight event-driven process model is proposed aiming at satisfying the spontaneous business needs in enterprise. And we design an innovative wizard, which works like a tutorial, guiding end users in creating this lightweight process model. Moreover, end users are allowed to interact with the process created by themselves on smartphones. Finally, the usability of our approach was evaluated on a small set of users in a real business scenario. The results show that end users can effectively build their personalized business processes using our approach and interact with them in mobile environment.

文摘In indoor environments, various batterypowered Internet of Things(IoT)devices, such as remote controllers and electronic tags on high-level shelves, require efficient energy management. However, manually monitoring remaining energy levels and battery replacement is both inadequate and costly. This paper introduces an energy management system for indoor IoT,which includes a mobile energy station(ES)for enabling on-demand wireless energy transfer(WET)in radio frequency(RF),some energy receivers(ERs),and a cloud server.By implementing a two-stage positioning system and embedding energy receivers into traditional IoT devices,we robustly manage their energy storage. The experimental results demonstrate that the energy receiver can harvest a minimum power of 58 mW.
