Lamb wave imaging has a resolution limit due to the guided wave dispersion characteristics and Rayleigh criterion limitations. In this paper, a full convolutional network is designed to segment and reconstruct the received signals, enabling the automatic identification of target modalities. This approach eliminates clutter and mode conversion interference when calculating direct and accompanying acoustic fields in time-domain topological energy(TDTE) imaging.Subsequently, the measured accompanying acoustic field is reversed for adaptive focusing on defects and enhance the imaging quality. To circumvent the limitations of the Rayleigh criterion, the direct acoustic field and the accompanying acoustic field were fused to characterize the pixel distribution in the imaging region, achieving Lamb wave super-resolution imaging. Experimental results indicate that compared to the sign coherence factor-total focusing method(SCF-TFM),the proposed method achieves a 31.41% improvement in lateral resolution and a 29.53% increase in signal-to-noise ratio for single-blind-hole defects. In the case of multiple-blind-hole defects with spacings greater than the Rayleigh criterion resolution limit, it exhibits a 27.23% enhancement in signal-to-noise ratio. On the contrary, when the defect spacings are relatively smaller than the limit, this method has a higher resolution limit than SCF-TFM in super-resolution imaging.展开更多

Firstly, the derivation of the dynamic equations for the evolution of soliton-like parameters and the timing jitter expressions for the dispersion-managed soliton-like systems are carried out by the perturbed variational method. By analysing and simulating these timing jitter expressions, one can find that the timing jitter is induced by the amplified spontaneous emission noise and the frequency shift, etc. Nonlinear gain can suppress the timing jitter. The chirp sign and the filters action have also effects on the total timing jitter. Secondly, the timing jitter is calculated and analysed by using the moment method. The results of the two methods prove to be consistent with each other.展开更多

It is shown that the terahertz absorption coefficients are correlated with the particle size of the samples, as well as the heating rates of the ambient temperature. Furthermore, the water molecules of copper sulfate pentahydrate can be quantitatively characterized due to the high sensitivity of the terahertz wave to water molecules. Based on such results, the status of water incorporated in mineral opal is also characterized using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. It indicates that terahertz technology can be considered as an efficient method to detect the dehydration of minerals.展开更多

In the model, each brick in each cavity is capable of operating with jitter in its switch. Additionally, the manner of triggering cables entering into cavities was considered. The performances of the LTD module operating with three typical cavity-triggering sequences were simulated and the simulation results indicate that switching jitter affects slightly the peak and starting time of the output current pulse. However, the enhancement in switching jitter would significantly lengthen the rise time of the output current pulse. Without considering other factors, a jitter lower than 10 ns may be necessary for the switches in the LTD module to provide output current parameters with an acceptable deviation.展开更多

To broaden the range of self-triggering time, a novel spark-discharge pre-ionization switch, in which the main gap electric field is superposed at the trigger gap to let the electrons in its spark channel also become initial electrons, is proposed and tested. The design idea is: as electrons in the spark channel of the trigger gap always exist after its breakdown, the injection time of pre-ionization should have a more negligible effect on reducing the switch jitter. The experiment results under pulses with a rise time of ~100 ns support the above assumptions. When the operating voltage is from ~300 to ~800 kV and the self-triggering time is ~45% to~75% of the peak time, the breakdown time delay jitter is less than 2 ns, and the breakdown voltage jitter is smaller than 1.25%. Under specific self-triggering time, the breakdown time delay jitter is less than 1.5 ns, and the breakdown voltage jitter is smaller than 0.8%.展开更多
