Cadmium sulfide(CdS)is an n-type semiconductor with excellent electrical conductivity that is widely used as an electron transport material(ETM)in solar cells.At present,numerous methods for preparing CdS thin films have emerged,among which magnetron sputtering(MS)is one of the most commonly used vacuum techniques.For this type of technique,the substrate temperature is one of the key deposition parameters that affects the interfacial properties between the target film and substrate,determining the specific growth habits of the films.Herein,the effect of substrate temperature on the microstructure and electrical properties of magnetron-sputtered CdS(MS-CdS)films was studied and applied for the first time in hydrothermally deposited antimony selenosulfide(Sb_(2)(S,Se)_(3))solar cells.Adjusting the substrate temperature not only results in the design of the flat and dense film with enhanced crystallinity but also leads to the formation of an energy level arrangement with a Sb_(2)(S,Se)_(3)layer that is more favorable for electron transfer.In addition,we developed an oxygen plasma treatment for CdS,reducing the parasitic absorption of the device and resulting in an increase in the short-circuit current density of the solar cell.This study demonstrates the feasibility of MS-CdS in the fabrication of hydrothermal Sb_(2)(S,Se)_(3)solar cells and provides interface optimization strategies to improve device performance. 展开更多

Bauxite residue is an alkaline waste material in the process of alumina production due to its characteristics of higher salinity and alkalinity,which results in environmental issues and extremely restricts the sustainable development of alumina industries.In this work,we conduct a column experiment to study the effects of two amendments on aggregate stability and variations in alkaline minerals of bauxite residue.The two amendments are phosphogypsum(PG)and phosphogypsum and vermicompost(PVC).The dominant fraction in aggregate is 1–0.25 mm in diameter on the surface,which takes up 39.34%,39.38%,and 44.51%for CK,PG,and PVC,respectively.Additions of PG and PVC decreased pH,EC,ESP,exchangeable Na^+concentration and the percentage of alkaline minerals,and then increased exchangeable Ca^2+concentration in bauxite residue.There was significant positive correlation between pH and exchangeable Na^+concentration,the percentage of cancrinite,tricalcium aluminate and calcite;while negative correlation was found in pH value versus exchangeable Ca^2+concentration.Theses findings confirmed that additions of phosphogypsum and vermicompost have a stimulative effect on aggregate stability in bauxite residue.In particular,amendment neutralization(phosphogypsum+vermicompost)in column represents an advantage for large-scale simulation of vegetation rehabilitate in bauxite residue disposal areas. 展开更多

The Cr-plated coating inside a gun barrel can effectively improve the barrel’s erosion resistance and thus increase the service life.However,due to the cyclic thermal load caused by high-temperature gunpowder,micro-element damage tends to occur within the Cr coating/steel substrate interface,leading to a gradual deterioration in macro-mechanical properties for the material in the related region.In order to mimic this cyclic thermal load and,thereby,study the thermal erosion behavior of the Cr coating on the barrel’s inner wall,a laser emitter is utilized in the current study.With the help of in-situ tensile test and finite element simulation results,a shear stress distribution law of the Cr coating/steel substrate and a change law of the interface ultimate shear strength are identified.Studies have shown that the Cr coating/steel substrate interface’s ultimate shear strength has a significant weakening effect due to increasing temperature.In this study,the interfacial ultimate shear strength decreases from 2.57 GPa(no erosion)to 1.02 GPa(laser power is 160 W).The data from this experiment is employed to establish a Cr coating/steel substrate interface shear damage model.And this model is used to predict the flaking process of Cr coating by finite element method.The simulation results show that the increase of coating crack spacing and coating thickness will increase the service life of gun barrel. 展开更多

Ni-Cr alloys with mass fraction of 1.4%23.9%Cr, 76.1%98.6%Ni, and hardness of 70.5 80.5HR were electrodeposited on aluminium substrate from the trivalent chromium sulphate-chloride solution using citric acid as complexing agent. The aluminium was pretreated by means of degreasing and eroding, polishing and twice chemical immersion of zinc. The effects of electrodeposition parameters such as current density, temperature, pH value and bath concentration on the composition and hardness of deposits were investigated. The results show that the Cr content increases with the increase of current density and the decrease of temperature, and that it increases with the increase of pH value to a maximum and then decreases. The increase of Cr content leads to the increase of hardness of the Ni-Cr layers. The deposits with high Cr content are of good corrosion resistance. Good adherence of Ni-Cr deposits to aluminium substrate is obtained. The Ni-Cr alloys are the Ni-Cr solid solution with fcc crystalline structure. The Ni-Cr alloy deposits are fine, bright and smooth and compact. 展开更多

The thermal barrier coatings with NiCrAlY alloy bonding layer, NiCrAlY Y 2O 3 stabilized ZrO 2 transition layer and Y 2O 3 stabilized ZrO 2 ceramic layer are prepared on nickel alloy substrates using the plasma spray technique. The relationship among the composition, structure and property of the coatings are investiga ted by means of optical microscope, scanning electronic microscope and the experiments of thermal shock resistance cycling and high temperature oxidation resistance. The results show that the structure design of introdu cing a transition layer between Ni alloy substrate and ZrO 2 ceramic coating guarantees the high quality and properties of the coatings; ZrO 2 coatings doped with a little SiO 2 possesses better thermal shock resistance and more excellent hot corrosion resistance as compared with ZrO 2 coating materials without SiO 2 ;the improvement in performance of ZrO 2 coating doped with SiO 2 is due to forming more dense coating structure by self closing effects of the flaws and pores in the ZrO 2 coatings. 展开更多

Silver nanostructure compact aggregates on the surface of quartz glass substrates were synthesized by small gold seeds with the assistance of poly vinypyrrolidone (PVP) and irradiation of fluorescent lamp. The formation mechanism of silver nanostructure was proposed. The results show that both the PVP and the light irradiation are the keys to in-situ growth of silver nanostructure on quartz glass substrates. The silver nanostructure of the substrates which finally grow up to 150 nm after 20 h irradiation exhibits irregular shape, and some of nanoparticles stack to form bilayer. A new broad band appears in the absorption spectra of the substrates due to the interparticle dipole?dipole coupling of surface plasmon resonance response of the triangular silver nanoplate particles, which red shifts 600?800 nm as the particles grow up. The substrates have an emission band centered at 400 nm on their fluorescence spectra, and the fluorescence intensity shrinks as the average size of the silver nanostructure increases. The strongest SERS signal of SERS-active substrate is fabricated after 16 h. 展开更多

A new and upcoming application is the use of 60 GHz antennas for high date rate point-to-point connections to serve Gigabit(Gi-Fi)w ireless communications.The design of M illimeter w ave(M m W)antennas has to cope w ith the unadorned influences of manufacturing tolerances and losses at 60 GHz.In this paper,the concept of Substrate Integrated Waveguide(SIW)and Exponentially Tapered Slot(ETS)antenna w ere used together to design a high gain,efficient planar dielectric loaded antenna for M m W Gi-Fi w ireless communications at 60 GHz.The SIW is used to feed the antenna and a dielectric is utilized in front of the antenna to increase the gain.The dielectric loaded ETS antenna and compact SIW feed w ere fabricated on a single substrate,resulting in low cost and easy fabrication.The antenna w ith elliptical shaped dielectric loaded w as fabricated using printed circuit board process.The measured gain of the single element antenna is 10.2 dB,w hile the radiation efficiency of 96.84%is obtained at 60 GHz.The Y-junction SIW pow er divider is used to form a 1×4 array structure.M easured gain of the 1×4 array antenna is 13.3 dB,w hile the measured radiation pattern and gain are almost constant w ithin the w ide bandw idth of the antenna. 展开更多

Objective:Arterial stiffening occurs in the progression of natural aging and cardiovascular diseases.Vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),the major components of vascular walls,which largely contribute to the pathophysiological states of blood vessels,are influenced by environmental cues of blood vessels reciprocally as well.Consistently,the increased proliferation of VSMCs has been reported to be observed in stiffening blood vessel and on rigid substrates,the underlying mechanism of which remains not yet fully clarified.Our previous work has demonstrated that Ca2+-activated K+(IKCa)channel participates in the stiff substrate-induced vascular smooth muscle cell(VSMC)proliferation.In the present work,from the standpoint of calcium entry and extracellular regulated protein kinases 1 and 2(ERK 1/2)activation,we further investigated the underlying mechanisms by which IKCa channels functions in the process mentioned above.Methods Soft(0.21 MPa)and stiff(1.72 MPa)PDMS substrates where VSMCs were seeded after coated with fibronectin(FN),were fabricated through the blending of sylgard 184 gel and sylgard 527 gel.After that,intracellular calcium level of VSMCs was compared with or without the treatment of IKCa specific blocker,TRAM-34,using a calcium-sensitive dye,fluo 4-AM.1mM Ethylene glycol-bis(2-aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N’,N’-tetraacetic acid(EGTA)was added into the culture media for the removal of the extracellular calcium ions as well as cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay was applied,which is to explore the role that calcium ion entry played in proliferation process.The activation level of ERK 1/2 was described by the expression level of phospho-ERK 1/2 using western blotting with or without TRAM-34 treatment.The role of the activation of ERK1/2 in VSMC proliferation was examined by CCK-8 assay with or without the treatment of PD98095,an ERK1/2 inhibitor.Results Compared with soft substrate,stiff substrate caused an increase of intracellular calcium level,which was attenuated by IKCa blockade.In addition,compared with soft substrate,stiff substrate also caused an activation of ERK1/2,which was significantly suppressed by IKCa blockade.Furthermore,extracellular calcium ion reduction by adding EGTA significantly inhibited the stiff substrate-induced VSMC proliferation,which whereas had no effect on VSMC proliferation on soft substrate.Finally,ERK1/2 inhibition had similar inhibitory effect on stiff substrate-induced proliferation.Conclusions Stiff substrate causes an IKCa channel-mediated calcium entry and ERK1/2 activation,both of which play important roles in stiff substrate-induced VSMC proliferation.Combined the previous results that IKCa channel participated in stiff substrate-induced VSMC proliferation,our present work suggests that IKCa channel functioned in the proliferation process through mediating calcium entry and subsequent ERK1/2 activations.These findings provide a new insight into how substrate stiffness regulates VSMC proliferation,and additional considerations for vascular tissue engineering and vascular disease treatment. 展开更多

The effect of substrate doping on the threshold voltages of buried channel pMOSFET based on strained-SiGe technology was studied.By physically deriving the models of the threshold voltages,it is found that the layer which inversely occurs first is substrate doping dependent,giving explanation for the variation of plateau observed in the C-V characteristics of this device,as the doping concentration increases.The threshold voltages obtained from the proposed model are-1.2805 V for buried channel and-2.9358 V for surface channel at a lightly doping case,and-3.41 V for surface channel at a heavily doping case,which agrees well with the experimental results.Also,the variations of the threshold voltages with several device parameters are discussed,which provides valuable reference to the designers of strained-SiGe devices. 展开更多

Xylanase production by Trichoderma strains in solid substrate fermentation

The importance of microbial enzymes in pulp and paper manufacturing has grown significantly in the last two decades. Solid substrate fermentation (SSF) holds tremendous potential for the production of microbial enzymes of commercial interest. SSF can be of special interest in those processes where the crude fermented product (whole SSF culture, in situ enzyme) may be used directly as the enzyme source. Xylanase preparations practically free of cellulase activity are especially useful for biobleaching of crude cellulose pulps. Thirty-nine Trichoderma isolates have been screened in SSF for xylanase production on hardwood oxygen-delignified soda-aq pulp as carbon source and enzyme inducer. Xylanase activities varied between 0 and 2200 IU/g dry matter (DM) of initial substrate. In most instances, the simultaneously produced cellulase levels were below 1.0 Filter Paper Unit (FPU) /g DM. The xylanase to cellulase activity ratio varied in the range of 5 to 3500. The three most promising isolates (TUB F-1647, TUB F-1658 and TUB F-1684) yielded xylanase activity of 2040, 1300 and 1500 IU/g DM xylanase, respectively, and 0.64, 0.43 and 0.43 FPU/g DM cellulase with a xylanase to cellulase activity ratio of 3200, 3000 and 3500, respectively. Wild strains F-1647, F-1658 and F-1684 were isolated from tree bark of Maldives, soils of Peru (last two), respectively. Medium optimization experiments to enhance the xylanase yield and to increase the xylanase to cellulase ratio have also been performed. 展开更多

Rehabilitation(amendment and vegetation establishment)on bauxite residue is viewed as a promising strategy to stabilize the surface and initiate soil development.However,such approaches are inhibited by high pH,high exchangeable sodium(ESP)and poor nutrient status.Amendment with gypsum is effective in improving residue physical and chemical properties and promoting seed establishment and growth.Application of organics(e.g.compost)can address nutrient deficiencies but supplemental fertilizer additions may be required.A series of germination bioassays were performed on residue to determine candidate species and optimum rehabilitation application rates.Subsequent field trials assessed establishment of grassland species Holcus lanatus and Trifolium pratense as well as physical and chemical properties of amended residue.Follow up monitoring over five years assessed elemental content in grassland and species dynamics.With co-application of the amendments several grassland species can grow on the residue.Over time other plant species can invade the restored area and fast growing nutrient demanding grasses are replaced.Scrub species can establish within a 5 Yr period and there is evidence of nutrient cycling.High pH,sodicity and nutrient deficiencies are the major limiting factors to establishing grassland on residue.Following restoration several plant species can grow on amended residue. 展开更多

The processes involved in the major steps of successful revegetation of bauxite residues are examined.The first phase is the natural physical,chemical and microbial ripening of the profile.This involves allowing the profile to drain,dry,shrink and crack to depth,leaching of soluble salts,alkalinity and Na down out of the surface layers,acidification by direct carbonation and natural seeding of tolerant vegetation with an accumulation of organic matter near the surface and an attendant development of an active microbial community.Following ripening,the surface layer can be tilled and gypsum and organic matter(e.g.manures,composts,biosolids)incorporated.These amendments result in a further decrease in pH,increase in Ca and other exchangeable cations,increased leaching of Na(with a reduction in exchangeable Na and ESP),improved physical properties,particularly aggregation,and a large increase in microbial activity.Other important considerations include the choice of suitable plant species tolerant to salinity/sodicity and local environmental conditions and the addition of balanced fertilizer applications. 展开更多

Diabetic nephropathy(DN)is one of the most common complications of diabetes.It is an important cause of diabetes disability and death.DN is a systemic metabolic syndrome.In its pathogenesis,the interaction of various cell activities and a large number of cytokine biological activities,the activation of signal pathways and so on are involved in the development of DN.At present,the clinical treatment of DN is mainly Western medicine,but it has limitations such as strong toxicity,high side effects and poor compliance.Therefore,the discovery of natural anti-DN substances has also become an important means to treat DN.Mulberry leaves are the dry leaves of Morus alba L.It is not only a traditional Chinese medicine,but also a dual-purpose medicinal material for medicine and food.It has the effects of dispelling wind and clearing heat,cooling blood and brightening eyes,tonifying and so on.Mulberry leaf polysaccharide(MLP)is a kind of high molecular compound in mulberry leaves.It has many pharmacological effects,such as hypoglycemic,antioxidant,anti-stress,anti-virus and so on.Therefore,the pharmacological effects of mulberry leaf polysaccharides on diabetic nephropathy are reviewed in this paper,so as to provide references for further research and application.The pathogenesis of DN is complex,and the mechanism of renal injury has not been completely clarified.The current studies believe that DN is closely related to heredity,abnormal glucose metabolism,abnormal lipid metabolism,microcirculation disorder,cytokine action,oxidative stress and so on.Relevant studies show that the pharmacological effects of mulberry leaf polysaccharide in the prevention and treatment of DN mainly include:①Effect on transforming factor-β1(TGF-β1):TGF-β1 has become an important cytokine involved in the formation of renal fibrosis by regulating cell proliferation and differentiation and the production of extracellular matrix(ECM).MLP can significantly inhibit TGF-β1 protein,and then inhibit the synthesis of extracellular matrix by renal interstitial fibroblasts and inhibit the realization of fibrosis.②Effect on insulin receptor substrate(IRS-1):IRS-1 is an important signal molecule at the beginning of IR signal transduction.The decrease of IRS-1 gene expression or the decrease of expression can affect the effective transmission of IR signal and lead to the development and deterioration of diabetes. MPL can significantly increase the expression of IRS-1 mRNA in liver tissue of DN rats, so as to prevent and treat DN. ③ Effect on the expression of resistin protein in adipose tis sue. Resistin is a secretory polypeptide derived from adipose tissue and is specifically expressed in white adipose tissue and is closely related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Experimental studies show that MLP can effectively reduce the expression of resistin protein in white adipose tissue of T2DM rats, indicating that MLP may reduce the level of IR by inhibiting the expression of resistin in adipose tissue, thereby reducing the insulin resistance state of T2DM rats, so as to achieve the goal of treating diabetes. ④ Effect on adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1): adiponectin can improve insulin resistance, reduce blood glucose and lipid. AdipoR1 is mainly expressed in skeletal muscle and kidney. Studies have shown that AdipoR1 is closely related to the occurrence and development of DN. The results showed that MLP could reduce the blood glucose and blood lipid level and up regulate the expression of AdipoR1 mRNA in DN rats, suggesting that MLP may delay the occurrence and development of DN. This article reviewed the pharmacological effects of mulberry leaf polysaccharides on diabetic nephropathy, and provided a useful basis for further development and utilization of mul berry leaf polysaccharides in the treatment of DN. 展开更多
