To enable simultaneous transmit and receive(STAR)on the same frequency in a densely deployed space with multi-interference sources,this work proposes a digitally-assisted analog selfinterference cancellation method,wh...To enable simultaneous transmit and receive(STAR)on the same frequency in a densely deployed space with multi-interference sources,this work proposes a digitally-assisted analog selfinterference cancellation method,which can acquire reference signals through flexible wired/wireless switching access.Based on this method,the Minimum Mean Square Error algorithm with known channel state information is derived in detail,determining the upper limit of the cancellation performance,and the Adaptive Dithered Linear Search algorithm for real-time engineering cancellation is given.The correctness of theoretical analysis is verified by the practical self-interference channel measured by a vector network analyzer.Furthermore,we have designed and implemented the corresponding multiinterference cancellation prototype with the digitallyassisted structure,capable of handling multiple interferences(up to three)and supporting a large receive bandwidth of 100 MHz as well as a wide frequency coverage from 30 MHz to 3000 MHz.Prototype test results demonstrate that in the presence of three interferences,when the single interference bandwidth is 0.2/2/20 MHz(corresponding to the receive bandwidth of 2/20/100 MHz),the cancellation performance can reach 46/32/22 dB or more.展开更多

Owing to the dramatic mobile IP growth,the emerging Internet of Things,and cloud-based applications,wireless networking is witnessing a paradigm shift.By fully exploiting spatial degrees of freedom,massive multiple-in...Owing to the dramatic mobile IP growth,the emerging Internet of Things,and cloud-based applications,wireless networking is witnessing a paradigm shift.By fully exploiting spatial degrees of freedom,massive multiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO) systems promise significant gains in data rates and link reliability.Although the research community has recognized the theoretical benefits of these systems,building the hardware of such complex systems is a challenge in practice.This paper presents a time division duplex(TDD)-based 128-antenna massive MIMO prototype system from theory to reality.First,an analytical signal model is provided to facilitate the setup of a feasible massive MIMO prototype system.Second,a link-level simulation consistent with practical TDDbased massive MIMO systems is conducted to guide and validate the massive MIMO system design.We design and implement the TDDbased 128-antenna massive MIMO prototype system with the guidelines obtained from the link-level simulation.Uplink real-time video transmission and downlink data transmission under the configuration of multiple single-antenna users are achieved.Comparisons withstate-of-the-art prototypes demonstrate the advantages of the proposed system in terms of antenna number,bandwidth,latency,and throughput.The proposed system is also equipped with scalability,which makes the system applicable to a wide range of massive scenarios.展开更多

Its mathematical model and the virtual prototype are established based on the dynamics simulation software ADAMS. The landing dynamic characteristics and the effect of the parameters on the proposed adaptive shock absorber are analyzed. The results show that the proposed adaptive shock absorber has the slightly better landing performance at the normal load case and much less overload at the crudely landing case than the shock absorber with single-cavity and variable orifice. It also can be concluded that the overload of the proposed adaptive shock absorber can be reduced through increasing the volumes of both cavities or decreasing the pressure of the high pressure cavity or increasing the pressure of the low pressure cavity.展开更多
Locomotive design is a highly complex task that requires the use of systems engineering that depends upon knowledge from a range of disciplines and is strongly oriented on how to design and manage complex systems that...Locomotive design is a highly complex task that requires the use of systems engineering that depends upon knowledge from a range of disciplines and is strongly oriented on how to design and manage complex systems that operate under a wide range of different train operational conditions on various types of tracks.Considering that field investigation programs for locomotive operational scenarios involve high costs and cause disruption of train operations on real railway networks and given recent developments in the rollingstock compliance standards in Australia and overseas that allow the assessment of some aspects of rail vehicle behaviour through computer simulations,a great number of multidisciplinary research studies have been performed and these can contribute to further improvement of a locomotive design technique by increasing the amount of computer-based studies.This paper was focused on the presentation of the all-important key components required for locomotive studies,starting from developing a realistic locomotive design model,its validation and further applications for train studies.The integration of all engineering disciplines is achieved by means of advanced simulation approaches that can incorporate existing AC and DC locomotive designs,hybrid locomotive designs,full locomotive traction system models,rail friction processes,the application of simplified and exact wheel-rail contact theories,wheel-rail wear and rolling contact fatigue,train dynamic behaviour and intrain forces,comprehensive track infrastructure details,and the use of co-simulation and parallel computing.The cosimulation and parallel computing approaches that have been implemented on Central Queensland University’s High-Performance Computing cluster for locomotive studies will be presented.The confidence in these approaches is based on specific validation procedures that include a locomotive model acceptance procedure and field test data.The problems and limitations presented in locomotive traction studies in the way they are conducted at the present time are summarised and discussed.展开更多

Recently, programmable metasurfaces have...Metasurfaces have drawn significant attentions due to their superior capability in tailoring electromagnetic waves with a wide frequency range, from microwave to visible light. Recently, programmable metasurfaces have demonstrated the ability of manipulating the amplitude or phase of electromagnetic waves in a programmable manner in real time, which renders them especially appealing in the applications of wireless communications. In this paper, we present the fundamental principle of applying programmable metasurface as transmitter for wireless communications. Then, we establish a prototype system of metasurface-based transmitter to conduct several experiments and measurements over the air, which practically demonstrate the feasibility of using programmable metasurfaces in future communication systems. By exploiting the dynamically controllable property of programmable metasurface, the design, implementation and experimental evaluation of the proposed metasurface-based wireless communication system are presented with the prototype, which realizes single carrier quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) transmission over the air. In the developed prototype, the phase of the reflected electromagnetic wave of programma-ble metasurface is directly manipulated in real time according to the baseband control signal, which achieves 2.048 Mbps data transfer rate with video streaming transmission over the air. In addition, experimental result is provided to compare the performance of the proposed metasurface-based architecture against the conventional one. With the slight increase of the transmit power by 5 dB, the same bit error rate(BER) performance can be achieved as the conventional system in the absence of channel coding. Such a result is encouraging considering that the metasurface-based system has the advantages of low hardware cost and simple structure, thus leading to a promising new architecture for wireless communications.展开更多

The coded b...Sparse code multiple access(SCMA) is a novel non-orthogonal multiple access scheme proposed to meet the challenging demand of the future 5G communications, especially in support of the massive connections. The coded bits from each data stream will be directly mapped as multi-dimensional SCMA codeword in complex domain and then spread onto the physical resource elements in a sparse manner. The number of codewords that can be nonorthogonally multiplexed in one SCMA block can be made much larger than the number of orthogonal resource elements therein, resulting in an overloaded system. The sparsity in the spreading pattern and the design in the multidimensional modulator jointly ensure the SCMA codewords can be robustly decoded with low complexity. In this paper, we focus on the low complexity receiver design and verified the superior of an SCMA system via simulations and real-time prototyping. Lab tests and field tests all show that SCMA is a promising candidate for 5G non-orthogonal multiple access which can provide up to 300% overloading that triples the whole system throughput while still enjoying the link performance close to orthogonal transmissions.展开更多
Silicon neutron transmutation doping remains one of the most viable nuclear applications for research reactors.Providing this kind of product involves an irradiation method capable of fulfilling the quality requiremen...Silicon neutron transmutation doping remains one of the most viable nuclear applications for research reactors.Providing this kind of product involves an irradiation method capable of fulfilling the quality requirements of doping and alleviating the challenges related to the design and safety of the irradiation device.In this paper,we propose an irradiation device prototype for neutron transmutation doping of silicon ingots with diameters of 2 to 3 in.based on the Es-Salam research reactor.The thermal hydraulic analysis of the proposed irradiation device was performed to determine the optimum conditions for cooling.The effect of the mechanical vibrations induced by the circulation of coolant in the device was quantified via experimental measurements under different flow rates.The results show that the maximum temperature reached by the silicon ingots is below the temperature limit,effectively validating the design of the irradiation device.Other investigations are prospected to further optimize the design and the irradiation conditions.The irradiation of silicon ingots with a large diameter will be considered.展开更多
China plans to develop the next generation dark matter particle explorer satellite,referred to as the Very Large Area Space Telescope(VLAST).As an essential step in this process,the prototype design of detectors and e...China plans to develop the next generation dark matter particle explorer satellite,referred to as the Very Large Area Space Telescope(VLAST).As an essential step in this process,the prototype design of detectors and electronics for the VLAST is currently underway.The nuclide detector is a core detector in the VLAST.It mainly measures nuclides’charges and distinguishes high-energy gamma rays and electrons.This paper will discuss the prototype readout electronics for the VLAST’s nuclide detector,which accurately measures the charge signal of the photomultiplier tubes using the VATA160 applicationspecific integrated circuit chip;furthermore,we consider a series of critical problems,including radiation-hardening and environment monitoring.The test results show that the system exhibits stable operation,good performance,and good technical indicators.Furthermore,each electronic channel achieves a dynamic range of 0-12.5 pC,the random noise level exceeds 1.6 fC,and the integral nonlinearity exceeds 0.35%.展开更多

In this paper, a novel hybrid attention-based few-shot learning method, named Attention-Based Prototypical Network, is proposed for forest fire smoke detection. Specifically, feature extraction network, which consists of convolutional block attention module, could extract high-level and discriminative features and further decrease the false alarm rate resulting from suspected smoke areas. Moreover, we design a metalearning module to alleviate the overfitting issue caused by limited smoke images, and the meta-learning network enables achieving effective detection via comparing the distance between the class prototype of support images and the features of query images. A series of experiments on forest fire smoke datasets and miniImageNet dataset testify that the proposed method is superior to state-of-the-art few-shot learning approaches.展开更多

Cognitive linguistics views that categorization of organisms and concrete objects are based on the prototype category. This paper takes 167 English Neologisms from Wordspy in2015 as the data for analysis and finds that these English Neologisms are characterized by family resemblances, degree of membership in category and boundary fuzziness from the view of prototype category theory. 文摘Locomotive design is a highly complex task that requires the use of systems engineering that depends upon knowledge from a range of disciplines and is strongly oriented on how to design and manage complex systems that operate under a wide range of different train operational conditions on various types of tracks.Considering that field investigation programs for locomotive operational scenarios involve high costs and cause disruption of train operations on real railway networks and given recent developments in the rollingstock compliance standards in Australia and overseas that allow the assessment of some aspects of rail vehicle behaviour through computer simulations,a great number of multidisciplinary research studies have been performed and these can contribute to further improvement of a locomotive design technique by increasing the amount of computer-based studies.This paper was focused on the presentation of the all-important key components required for locomotive studies,starting from developing a realistic locomotive design model,its validation and further applications for train studies.The integration of all engineering disciplines is achieved by means of advanced simulation approaches that can incorporate existing AC and DC locomotive designs,hybrid locomotive designs,full locomotive traction system models,rail friction processes,the application of simplified and exact wheel-rail contact theories,wheel-rail wear and rolling contact fatigue,train dynamic behaviour and intrain forces,comprehensive track infrastructure details,and the use of co-simulation and parallel computing.The cosimulation and parallel computing approaches that have been implemented on Central Queensland University’s High-Performance Computing cluster for locomotive studies will be presented.The confidence in these approaches is based on specific validation procedures that include a locomotive model acceptance procedure and field test data.The problems and limitations presented in locomotive traction studies in the way they are conducted at the present time are summarised and discussed.

文摘Metasurfaces have drawn significant attentions due to their superior capability in tailoring electromagnetic waves with a wide frequency range, from microwave to visible light. Recently, programmable metasurfaces have demonstrated the ability of manipulating the amplitude or phase of electromagnetic waves in a programmable manner in real time, which renders them especially appealing in the applications of wireless communications. In this paper, we present the fundamental principle of applying programmable metasurface as transmitter for wireless communications. Then, we establish a prototype system of metasurface-based transmitter to conduct several experiments and measurements over the air, which practically demonstrate the feasibility of using programmable metasurfaces in future communication systems. By exploiting the dynamically controllable property of programmable metasurface, the design, implementation and experimental evaluation of the proposed metasurface-based wireless communication system are presented with the prototype, which realizes single carrier quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) transmission over the air. In the developed prototype, the phase of the reflected electromagnetic wave of programma-ble metasurface is directly manipulated in real time according to the baseband control signal, which achieves 2.048 Mbps data transfer rate with video streaming transmission over the air. In addition, experimental result is provided to compare the performance of the proposed metasurface-based architecture against the conventional one. With the slight increase of the transmit power by 5 dB, the same bit error rate(BER) performance can be achieved as the conventional system in the absence of channel coding. Such a result is encouraging considering that the metasurface-based system has the advantages of low hardware cost and simple structure, thus leading to a promising new architecture for wireless communications.
文摘Sparse code multiple access(SCMA) is a novel non-orthogonal multiple access scheme proposed to meet the challenging demand of the future 5G communications, especially in support of the massive connections. The coded bits from each data stream will be directly mapped as multi-dimensional SCMA codeword in complex domain and then spread onto the physical resource elements in a sparse manner. The number of codewords that can be nonorthogonally multiplexed in one SCMA block can be made much larger than the number of orthogonal resource elements therein, resulting in an overloaded system. The sparsity in the spreading pattern and the design in the multidimensional modulator jointly ensure the SCMA codewords can be robustly decoded with low complexity. In this paper, we focus on the low complexity receiver design and verified the superior of an SCMA system via simulations and real-time prototyping. Lab tests and field tests all show that SCMA is a promising candidate for 5G non-orthogonal multiple access which can provide up to 300% overloading that triples the whole system throughput while still enjoying the link performance close to orthogonal transmissions.

文摘Silicon neutron transmutation doping remains one of the most viable nuclear applications for research reactors.Providing this kind of product involves an irradiation method capable of fulfilling the quality requirements of doping and alleviating the challenges related to the design and safety of the irradiation device.In this paper,we propose an irradiation device prototype for neutron transmutation doping of silicon ingots with diameters of 2 to 3 in.based on the Es-Salam research reactor.The thermal hydraulic analysis of the proposed irradiation device was performed to determine the optimum conditions for cooling.The effect of the mechanical vibrations induced by the circulation of coolant in the device was quantified via experimental measurements under different flow rates.The results show that the maximum temperature reached by the silicon ingots is below the temperature limit,effectively validating the design of the irradiation device.Other investigations are prospected to further optimize the design and the irradiation conditions.The irradiation of silicon ingots with a large diameter will be considered.

文摘China plans to develop the next generation dark matter particle explorer satellite,referred to as the Very Large Area Space Telescope(VLAST).As an essential step in this process,the prototype design of detectors and electronics for the VLAST is currently underway.The nuclide detector is a core detector in the VLAST.It mainly measures nuclides’charges and distinguishes high-energy gamma rays and electrons.This paper will discuss the prototype readout electronics for the VLAST’s nuclide detector,which accurately measures the charge signal of the photomultiplier tubes using the VATA160 applicationspecific integrated circuit chip;furthermore,we consider a series of critical problems,including radiation-hardening and environment monitoring.The test results show that the system exhibits stable operation,good performance,and good technical indicators.Furthermore,each electronic channel achieves a dynamic range of 0-12.5 pC,the random noise level exceeds 1.6 fC,and the integral nonlinearity exceeds 0.35%.

文摘Existing almost deep learning methods rely on a large amount of annotated data, so they are inappropriate for forest fire smoke detection with limited data. In this paper, a novel hybrid attention-based few-shot learning method, named Attention-Based Prototypical Network, is proposed for forest fire smoke detection. Specifically, feature extraction network, which consists of convolutional block attention module, could extract high-level and discriminative features and further decrease the false alarm rate resulting from suspected smoke areas. Moreover, we design a metalearning module to alleviate the overfitting issue caused by limited smoke images, and the meta-learning network enables achieving effective detection via comparing the distance between the class prototype of support images and the features of query images. A series of experiments on forest fire smoke datasets and miniImageNet dataset testify that the proposed method is superior to state-of-the-art few-shot learning approaches.
文摘A central claim of Cognitive Grammar is that basic grammatical categories,such as noun and verb,have conceptual characterizations valid for all members.The standard argument against this position is invalid.The proposed characterizations rely only on basic cognitive abilities that are clearly evident on non-linguistic grounds.Responses are made to arguments against the proposal as well as to putative alternatives.It is shown in specific detail how the characterization offered for nouns applies to a broad range of cases.
文摘With the development of science and technology, large quantities of neologisms are created. Neologisms are the result of people's conceptualization of new things based on their life experiences. Cognitive linguistics views that categorization of organisms and concrete objects are based on the prototype category. This paper takes 167 English Neologisms from Wordspy in2015 as the data for analysis and finds that these English Neologisms are characterized by family resemblances, degree of membership in category and boundary fuzziness from the view of prototype category theory. This study also has some implications for the research of English language teaching and learning.
