The obtained positron annihilation parameters are interpreted from two aspects: surface effect and differences in micro-structure or chemical environment of positron annihilation. The experimental results show that the regulation of densification of PEG molecular packing and distribution uniformity from the near surface layer to the bulk region in the film forming process can be well realized by changing its molecular weight. Combining a variable monoenergetic slow positron beam and these two positron annihilation spectroscopy methods is a powerful tool to study positron annihilation characteristics and for polymeric thin-film fine structure analysis.展开更多

Polyethylene glycol(PEG) was reacted with wood to provide possible fixation of the chitosan to wood. Wood blocks were treated with chitosan and PEG, as well as pre-treatment with the PEG at different temperatures and further reaction with the chitosan. The samples were soaked in water to study leaching of the chemicals, water absorption, swelling, as well as anti-swelling efficiency. Any prior reaction of the wood with PEG provided better reaction to the chitosan.Bulking was increased after the treatment of the wood with PEG. Swelling was reduced in the PEG-treated wood blocks as well as the pre-treated samples. Chitosan was not able to protect wood against water penetration: the treated samples showed more water absorption and swelling. However, pre-treatment of the samples decreased swelling in the wood, and the density was not noticeably affected by the treatments. The dispersion of nZnOp in copolymer matrixes and the effects of PEG and nZnOp particles on the crystallization behavior of the composites are studied by TEM, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), XRD and Fourier thansform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR ). The results reveal that nZnOp particles are dispersed in the matrixes with nano-scale, and the addition of PEG induces more homogeneous dispersion of nZnOp. Simultaneously, these nanoparticles become nucleating centers during the crystallization of the matrixes. PEG segments can improve the flexibility of the PET molecular chain, resulting in the drop of the cold crystallization temperature and the rise of the crystallization rate of the composites. Furthermore, PEG (4 000) with the mass fraction of 10% can promote the crystallization rate of the composites. The mechanical properties show that the nano-particles strengthen and toughen the PET matrix, whereas PEG weakens these improve- ments.展开更多

The P-type semiconductor of copper oxide is an important functional material used for photovoltaic cells. Cu O is attractive as a selective solar absorber since it has high solar absorbance and a low thermal emittance. The present work describes the synthesis and characterization of semiconducting Cu O nanoparticles via one-step, solid-state reaction in the presence of Polyethylene glycol400 as size controlling agent for the preparation of Cu O nanoparticles at different temperatures. Solid-state mechanochemical processing, which is not only a physical size reduction process in conventional milling but also a chemical reaction, is mechanically activated at the nanoscale during grinding. The present method is a simple and efficient method of preparing nanoparticles with high yield at low cost. The structural and chemical composition of the nanoparticles were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectrometer, respectively. Optical properties and band gap of Cu O nanoparticles were studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy. These results showed that the band gap energy decreased with increase of annealing temperature, which can be attributed to the improvement in grain size of the samples.展开更多

Effects of the supports regarding pore structures and pore properties, the PEI loading amount as well as the sorption temperature were examined. Furthermore, polyethylene glycol(PEG) was introduced as an additive into the sorbents and its effect was investigated at different PEI loadings and sorption temperatures. The results suggest that the pore properties of MBS(after PEI loading) play a more important role in the COsorption capacity, rather than those of the supports alone.MBS with 3D pore structure exhibits higher COsorption capacity and amine efficiency than those with 2D-structured support. Among the sorbents studied, fumed silica(HS-5) based MBS showed the highest COsorption capacity in the temperature range of 30-95 °C, probably due to its unique interstitial pores formed by the aggregation of polymer-loaded SiOparticles. It was found that the temperature dependence is directly related to the PEI surface coverage layers. The more PEI surface coverage layers, the higher diffusion barrier for COand the stronger temperature dependence of COcapacity. 3D MBS exceeds 2D MBS at the same PEI coverage layers due to lower diffusion barrier. Adding PEG can significantly enhance the COsorption capacity and improve amine efficiency of all MBS, most likely by alleviating the diffusion barrier within PEI bulk layers through the inter-molecular interaction between PEI and PEG.展开更多

The structure of modified wood flour was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and its effect on the physical and mechanical properties of wood flour/PP composites was evaluated. The SEM results indicated the "bulking" effect of PEG on wood flour, which resulted in reduced water uptake. The combination of PEG and heat treatment further improved the moisture resistance of the composites. However, PEG modification had a negative effect on the flexural modulus of rupture (MOR) and the modulus of elasticity (MOE); whereas heat treatment partly compensated for this reduc- tion. For dynamic mechanical properties, PEG treatment decreased the storage modulus (E'). However, the heat treatment resulted in an increase orE' of the wood flour/PP composites, with the temperature of loss factor peaks shifting to a higher temperature.展开更多

文摘In order to improve the dimensional stability of wood-polymer composites, wood flour pre-treated by polyethylene glycol (PEG) at two different concentrations and then thermally treated at 140℃, was used as raw material to produce wood flour/poly- propylene (PP) composites at a wood content of 40%. However, the heat treatment resulted in an increase orE' of the wood flour/PP composites, with the temperature of loss factor peaks shifting to a higher temperature.

文摘Fluorinated salts and/or high salt concentrations are usually necessary to produce protective films on the electrodes for high-voltage aqueous batteries, yet these approaches increase the cost, toxicity and reaction resistances of battery.Herein,we report a dilute fluorine-free electrolyte design to overcome this dilemma.By using the LiClO_(4) salt and polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether(PED)solvent and optimizing the LiClO_(4)/PED/H_(2)O molar ratio,we formulate a 1 mol kg^(-1)3 V-class hybrid aqueous electrolyte that enables reversible charge/discharge of 2.5 V LiMn_(2)O_(4)|Li_(4)Ti_(5)O_(12) full cell at both low(0.5C,92.4%capacity retention in 300 cycles)and high(5C,80.4%capacity retention in 2000 cycles)rates. This excellent performance is reached even without the generation of protective film on either anode or cathode as identified by in/ex situ characterizations. The selection of appropriate ingredients that have both high stability and strong interactions with water is critical to widen the potential window of electrolyte while suppressing parasitic reactions on the electrodes. This work suggests that expensive and toxic fluorinate salts are no longer necessary for 3 V-class aqueous electrolytes, boosting the development of low-cost,environmentally-friendly,high-power and high-energy-density aqueous batteries.
文摘A new method for the activation of crystalline magnesium chloride by polyethylene glycol was described. Polyethylene glycol could solubilize crystalline magnesium chloride. The resulting solution was used for the preparation of Ziegler-Natta propylene polymerization catalysts. These catalysts are highly active and stereospecific. The relationship between the catalytic activity and the Al/Ti ratio was studied in detail.
