It may result in the volume change and even cracking of mortar and concrete. According to the data analysis in a series of experimental studies, the influence of ultra-fine fly ash on the hydration shrinkage of composite cementitious materials was investigated. It is found that ultra-fine fly ash can reduce the hydration shrinkage of cement paste effectively, and the more the ultra-fine fly ash, the less the hydration shrinkage. Compared with cement paste without the ultra-fine fly ash, the shrinkage ratio of cement paste reduces from 23.4% to 39.7% when the ultra-fine fly ash replaces cement from 20% to 50%. Moreover, the microscopic mechanism of the ultra-fine fly ash restraining the hydration shrinkage was also studied by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and hydrated equations. The results show that the hydration shrinkage can be restrained to a certain degree because the ultra-fine fly ash does not participate in the hydration at the early stage and the secondary hydration products are different at the later stage.展开更多

The improved design method is mainly based on the optimal volume ratio of paste to aggregate(VRPA), which was determined by testing the average thickness of cement paste coating aggregate. The performances of pervious concrete designed by the traditional method and the improved one were compared. The results show that with the increase of designed porosity, the reduction of compressive strength and flexural strength of pervious concrete designed by the improved method is significantly smaller than those designed by the traditional one. The maximum deviation between the designed and actual porosity of the pervious concrete by the improved method is only 1.54%, which is far less than 8.7% obtained by the traditional one. Micro-structural analysis shows that the porous distribution of pervious concrete designed by improved method exhibits better uniformity.展开更多

By using the Amira software, component phases of the cement paste such as pores, hydration products, and unhydrated clinker particles were segmented from each other based on their 3D image grey levels; their relative contents were also calculated with the software, and the data are 61.2%, 0% and 38.8% at the beginning of hydration and 11.8%, 78.5% and 9.7% at 28 d age, respectively. The hydration degree of cement paste at different ages was compared with the experimental data acquired by loss on ignition (LOI) tests. The results show that the calculated and measured data reasonably agree with each other, which indicates that micro-CT is a useful and reliable approach to characterize the micro structure evolution of hydrating cement paste.展开更多

The specimens include cube specimens and prism specimens with height to width ratio of 2. The experiment results show that size effect exists in the cubic compressive strength and prismatic compressive strength of the cement paste, and larger specimens resist less in terms of strength than smaller ones. The cubic compressive strength and the prismatic compressive strength of the specimens with side length of 200 mm are respectively about 91% and 89% of the compressive strength of the specimens with the side length of 40 mm. Water to binder ratio has a significant influence on the size effect of the compressive strengths of the cement paste. With a decrease in the water to binder ratio, the size effect is significantly enhanced. When the water to binder ratio is 0.2, the size effects of the cubic compressive strength and the prismatic compressive strength of the cement paste are 1.6 and 1.4 times stronger than those of a water to binder ratio of 0.6. Furthermore, a series of formulas are proposed to calculate the size effect of the cubic compressive strength and the prismatic compressive strength of cement paste, and the results of the size effect predicted by the formulas are in good agreement with the experiment results.展开更多

The results show that the hydration shrinkage can be restrained to a certain degree because the ultra-fine fly ash does not participate in the hydration at the early stage and the secondary hydration products are different at the later stage.

文摘In this study, different influence mechanisms associated with temperatures and pH values were investigated through cemented paste backfill(CPB)systems.CPB samples were prepared with temperatures ranging from 10 to 50℃ in 10℃ increments and pH values of 3,7,and 13.Then,the CPB mixture were subjected to rheological tests, thermogravimetric analysis(TG),derivative thermogravimetry analysis(DTG),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Results demonstrated that the temperatures had significant effects on the rheological properties of CPB,whereas the effects of pH values were relatively unapparent.Higher temperatures(over 20℃)were prone to bring higher shear stress, yield stress, and apparent viscosity with the same pH value condition. However,an overly high temperature(50℃)cannot raise the apparent viscosity.Non-neutral conditions, for pH values of 3 and 13,could strengthen the shear stress and apparent viscosity at the same temperature. Two different yield stress curves could be discovered by uprising pH values, which also led to apparent viscosity of two various curves under the same temperatures(under 50℃).Microscopically,rheological properties of CPB were affected by temperatures and pH values which enhanced or reduced the cement hydration procedures, rates, products and space structures.

文摘An improved design method of pervious concrete was proposed to lower the deviation between the designed and actual porosity and maintain both mechanical property and permeability of pervious concrete. Micro-structural analysis shows that the porous distribution of pervious concrete designed by improved method exhibits better uniformity.

文摘The strength of cement-based materials, such as mortar, concrete and cement paste backfill(CPB),depends on its microstructures(e.g.pore structure and arrangement of particles and skeleton).Numerous studies on the relationship between strength and pore structure(e.g.,pore size and its distribution)were performed, but the micro-morphology characteristics have been rarely concerned.Texture describing the surface properties of the sample is a global feature, which is an effective way to quantify the micro-morphological properties. In statistical analysis,GLCM features and Tamura texture are the most representative methods for characterizing the texture features. The mechanical strength and section image of the backfill sample prepared from three different solid concentrations of paste were obtained by uniaxial compressive strength test and scanning electron microscope, respectively. The texture features of different SEM images were calculated based on image analysis technology, and then the correlation between these parameters and the strength was analyzed. It was proved that the method is effective in the quantitative analysis on the micro-morphology characteristics of CPB.There is a significant correlation between the texture features and the unconfined compressive strength, and the prediction of strength is feasible using texture parameters of the CPB microstructure.

文摘To understand the effect of steam curing temperature on the hydrate and microstructure of hardened cement paste, several measuring methods including X-ray diffraction(XRD),atomic absorption spectroscopy(ASS),ion chromatography, conductivity meter,alternating-current impedance spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)are employed to investigate the hydration characteristics, pore solution composition and conductivity, resistivity and pore structure during the steam curing process.Experimental results show that steam curing promotes the hydration process, greatly raises the resistivity, and decreases the porosity of specimen at early age.Compared with being treated at 45℃,higher temperature leads to a fast decomposition of ettringite at initial stage of the constant temperature treatment period, which improves the relative content and ionic activity of the conductive ions in pore solution.Furthermore, the number of pores larger than 200 nm increases significantly, which reduces the resistivity of the hardened cement paste.Cement paste treated at 45℃ has a more stable and denser microstructure with less damages.

文摘With the gradual depletion of available ore at shallow depth, deep mines have been widely operated around the world and therefore need a longer distance to transport the backfill to the underground stope. In this case, the determination of pressure drop is more important in the pipeline transportation system design. As the pilot loop systems require a large amount of capital and manual investment, even its results are reliable, there is an urgent need to find an alternative simple and cost-saving method to determine the pressure drop.Hence, laboratory L-pipe and a pilot-loop tests were employed to study the flow properties of cemented paste backfill cured at various solid and binder content. The results indicate that the L-pipe test presented a similar trend to the loop test, but the L-pipe was characterized by higher pressure drop values for various solid and cement contents. As cement content increased beyond 0%,the paste in the L-pipe showed a slighter difference in pressure drop evolution compared to the paste in the loop-pipe.These results suggest that the simple L-pipe is a workable substitute for semi-industrial loop tests and can provide guidance for designing practical CPB pipeline systems in deep mines.

文摘Micro computed tomography (Micro-CT) was applied to obtain three-dimensional images of the microstructure of cement paste (water-to-cement mass ratio of 0.5) at different ages. The results show that the calculated and measured data reasonably agree with each other, which indicates that micro-CT is a useful and reliable approach to characterize the micro structure evolution of hydrating cement paste.

文摘For the resource utilization of the solid waste coking sulfur paste and the improvement of performance of the asphalt mixture,a method for preparing modified asphalt mixture with coking sulfur paste modifier(CSPM)is herein proposed.Compared with the matrix asphalt mixture, the Marshall stability of the 30%CSPM modified asphalt mixture increased by 38.3%,the dynamic stability increased by nearly one time(reaching 1847.5 times/mm),the splitting strength ratio increased by 39.3%while the splitting tensile strength decreased by 11.7%.After curing, the performance of the CSPM modified asphalt mixture was further improved. The results show that CSPM improved the high temperature stability and water damage resistance of the asphalt mixture, and the low-temperature anti-cracking performance of that was slightly reduced.Chemical analysis of asphalt binders shows that a little sulfur reacted with asphalt to produce polysulfide compounds(R-Sx-R′),and a part of sulfur existed in the form of crystalline sulfur which was further increased after curing. The presence of crystalline sulfur as an inorganic filler is the key point for improving the high temperature stability and water resistance performance of modified asphalt mixture.

文摘A series of compression tests were conducted on 150 groups of cement paste specimens with side lengths ranging from 40 mm to 200 mm. Furthermore, a series of formulas are proposed to calculate the size effect of the cubic compressive strength and the prismatic compressive strength of cement paste, and the results of the size effect predicted by the formulas are in good agreement with the experiment results.

文摘The early-age thermal cracking easily generates and severely impairs the durability of concrete. The temperature rising inhibitor(TRI)was utilized to regulate the temperature evolution by controlling the cement hydration process. This paper aimed to investigate the pore structure formation and hydration characteristics of cement paste containing TRI by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance. The experiment showed that the T_(2) peak of cement paste shifted from 7.32 ms to 0.23 ms regardless of TRI addition. But the pattern of pore structure formation was changed with TRI addition, that is,the pore structure formation was delayed, and the pore successively shifted to left in two parts. In addition,TRI addition significantly prolonged the duration of gel pore formation and greatly decreased the increase rate of gel water, which implied that TRI introduction hindered the growth of C-S-H,and subsequently decreased the hydration rates and delayed the main hydration peak.Meanwhile,TRI dissolved and diffused rapidly at 40℃,delaying the hydration of cement paste seriously. Moreover,TRI brought about the C-S-H nucleation homogeneous and the ion concentration uniform, which might reduce the localized curvature occurring on the sheet of C-S-H,and then decreased the T_(2) intensity of capillary water and gel water.
文摘The preparation of lead-free thick-film resistors are reported:using RuO 2 and ruthenates as conductive particles, glass powders composed of B 2 O 3,SiO 2,CaO and Al2 O 3 as insulating phase, adding organic matter which mainly consists of ethyl cellulose and terpineol to form printable pastes.Resistors were fabricated and sintered by conventional screen-printing on 96%Al 2 O 3 substrates, and then sintering in a belt furnace.X-ray diffraction(XRD) and electron scanning microscopy(SEM) have been used to characterize the conductive particles. The resistors exhibit good refiring stability and low temperature coefficient of resistance.Sheet resistance spans from about 80Ω/□ to 600Ω/□.The resistors prepared are qualified for common use.
