And the influences of the billet geometry on the forming load and the deformation uniformity were analyzed by three-dimensional (3D) finite element method (FEM) under the commercial software DEFORM 3D. The billet geometry was optimized to meet lower forming load and better deformation uniformity requirement. Deformation mechanism was studied through the distribution of flow velocity field and effective strain field. The forging experiments of the helical gear were successfully performed using lead material as a model material under the same process conditions used in the FE simulations. The results show that the forming load decreases as the diameter of relief-hole do increases, but the effect of do on the deformation uniformity is very complicated. The forming load is lower and the deformation is more uniform when do is 10 mm.展开更多

Considering the symmetry of the die, a half gear tooth model of the two-ring assembled die with 2.5 GPa inner pressure was constructed. Four paths were defined to investigate the stress state at the bottom comer of the die where stress concentration was serious. FEA results show that the change of parting face from non-plane to plane can greatly reduce the stress at the teeth tips of the die so that the tip fracture is avoided. The interference structure of the die is the most important influencing factor for the stress concentration at the bottom comer. When non-uniform interference is adopted the first principal stress at the comer on the defined paths of the die is much lower than that with uniform interference. The bottom hole radius is another important influencing factor for the comer stress concentration. The first principal stress at the comer of the plane parting face die with non-uniform interference is reduced from 2.3 to 1.9 GPa when the hole radius increases from 12.5 to 16.0 mm. The optimization of the die structure increases the life of the die from 100 to 6 000 hits.展开更多

To obtain the parameters of empirical constitutive equation and dynamic recrystallization models for aluminium alloy 7050, the isothermal compression tests of 7050 samples were performed on Gleeble-1500 thermo-simulation machine in the temperature range of 250-450 ℃ and strain rate of 0.01-10 s-1, and the metallograph analysis of the samples were carried out on a Leica DMIRM image analyzer. The simulation results show that the dynamic recrystallization in the central area of the billet occurs more easily than that on the edge. Repetitious upsetting and stretching processes make the billet deform adequately. Among several forging processes e.g. upsetting, stretching, rounding and flatting, the stretching process is the most effective way to increase the effective strain and refine the microstructure of the billet. As the forging steps increase, the effective strain rises significantly and the average grain size reduces sharply. Recrystallized volume fractions in most parts of the final forging piece reach 100% and the average grain size reduces to 10 μm from initial value of 90 μm.展开更多

文摘A FEM model for a failed industrial example of roll forging was established to analyze the generation mechanisms of the mismatch of size and shape of two spring board. To demonstrate the formulation of these defects, the bites condition and contact status between rectangular groove and workpiece during rolling the first and second spring boards were analyzed. Then,a new oval-diamond groove combining oval groove and diamond groove was presented to eliminate these defects.By analyzing field variables under the same deformation degree, the larger friction can be obtained on the contact surface of workpiece and the oval-diamond groove. The physical experiment validates that the oval-diamond groove can eliminate these defects effectively, and the size of part is in good agreement with design requirement.

文摘This study investigates the differences in microstructural control between cryogenic forging combined with pre-deformation(PCF)and traditional thermal forging(TTF)for 7050 aluminum forgings intended for aerospace applications. The PCF process, utilizing cryogenic deformation, significantly refines the coarse grains at the surface of the forgings, resulting in a finer and more uniform microstructure, thereby effectively addressing the issue of surface coarse grains associated with traditional methods. The findings indicate that the PCF process can accumulate higher stored energy, facilitating static recrystallization(SRX)during subsequent heat treatment and enhancing the microstructural uniformity.Utilizing various analytical techniques, including optical microscopy(OM),electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).This study reveals the superiority of the PCF process in terms of strain accumulation, dislocation density, and grain refinement. In conclusion, this method offers advantages in enhancing the performance and microstructural uniformity of 7050 aluminum forgings, presenting new opportunities for applications in the aluminum forging industry.
