The reflectometry system, using a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) source driven by an arbitrary waveform generator with high temporal resolution, can operate for the density profile measurement. The result of the bench test shows that the output frequency of the VCO has a linear dependence on time. The dispersion of reflectometry system is determined and reported in this paper. The evolution of a pedestal density profile during the L-H transition is observed by the reflectometry in H-mode discharges on EAST tokamak. A frequency synthesizer is used to replace the VCO as microwave source for density fluctuation measurements. The level of density fluctuation in the pedestal shows an abrupt decrease when the plasma enters into H-mode. A coherent mode with a frequency of about 100 kHz is observed and the mode frequency decreases gradually as the pedestal evolves.展开更多

Modified magnetic topology induced by lower hybrid wave (LHW) can lead to the formation of striated heat flux (SHF} on divertor plates which can be clearly observed by IR camera. In this paper, LHW power modulation is applied to analyze the appearance of SHF. It is also demonstrated that deuterium (D) pellet injection and supersonic molecular beam injection (SMBI) can to some extent reduce the heat flux on the outer strike point (OSP), but enhance the SHF on lower outer plates (LOP) of divertor. This may provide an optional approach to actively control the distribution of heat flux on diveror plates, which can protect materials from long duration high-heat flux.展开更多

A two-dimensional finite element analysis code DFlux is used to compute heat flux along the poloidal divertor target and corresponding quantities. Outside the Origin Strike Zone (OSZ), a Second Peak Heat Flux (SPHF) zone, where the heat flux is even stronger than that at the OSZ, appears on the lower-outer (LO) divertor plates with LHCD and disappears immediately after switching off the LHCD. The heat patterns on the LO divertor plates are observed to be different from that on the lower-inner (LI) targets as the SPHF zone appears only on the LO divertor target. It is also found that the heat flux at the SPHF zone was obviously enhanced after the Supersonic Molecule Beam Injection (SMBI) pulse.展开更多

Two joint structures called joint-1 and joint-2 were evaluated by means of thermal response tests using electron beam facility. The experimental results showed that the temperature differences of two joints were not significant, and the maximum surface temperature was about 1055℃ at a load of 4 MW/m^2, which had a good agreement with the simulated results by ANSYS code. The results indicated that the doped graphite GBST1308/CuCrZr mock-up can withstand heat flux deposition of 4 MW/m^2 except at the screw-fastened region, and joint-2 could be more suitable to higher heat flux region such as divertor target. But under the higher heat flux, both joints are unacceptable, an advanced PFM and its integration with the heat sink have to be developed, for example, vacuum plasma spraying tungsten coatings on the CuCrZr might be a good choice.展开更多

This paper presents the formation and evolution of the high-field-side(HFS) radiation belts during the neon seeding plasma discharge in upper single null configuration with two directions of toroidal magnetic field in EAST tokamak. The neon mixed with deuterium seeding can induce the divertor detachment with strong radiation belts in the HFS scrape-off layer(SOL) region. With the increase of the radiation power, the plasma discharge will transit from H-mode to L-mode, and meanwhile the radiation belts move away from the near X-point to HFS SOL. When the radiation power is high enough, the radiation belts begin to move further to the other X-point along the HFS SOL, and even cause plasma disruption. The results indicate that the behavior of the radiation belts is related to the radiation power, plasma confinement performance and state of divertor detachment, which is useful for developing better feedback control methods to achieve high-performance radiative divertor operation mode.展开更多

文摘The core impurity confinement properties are experimentally investigated in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST)plasma heated by lower hybrid wave(LHW)and electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH)(LHW+ECRH).It is shown that the impurity confinement time(τ_(imp))in the L-mode plasma jointly heated by LHW and ECRH is weakly dependent on electron density but strongly dependent on the heating power, thus it is shorter than that in LHW-only heated L-mode plasma with the similar plasma parameters. The combined heating of LHW and ECRH can reduce the collisionality and indicates a more effective heating method for coreτimp reduction and normalized poloidal beta(βP)^(im)provement. It should be emphasized that in this highβ_P operation window the small ELM regime can be accessed, and an L-mode levelτ_(imp)(40 ms-80 ms)and highβ_N(~1.7)can be obtained simultaneously. It means that this typical small ELMy H-mode regime has an advantage in avoiding the serious tungsten accumulation, and will be competitive in future long-pulse steady-state and high-performance operation with high-Z material plasma-facing components.

文摘In the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak, density pump-out phenomena were observed by using a multi-channel polarimeter-interferometer system under different heating schemes of ion cyclotron resonant heating, electron cyclotron resonance heating, and neutral beam injection. The density pump-out was also induced with application of resonant magnetic perturbation, accompanied with a degradation of particle confinement. For the comparison analysis in all heating schemes, the typical plasma parameters are plasma current 400 k A,toroidal field 2 T,and line average density 2×10^19m^-3.The experimental results show that the degree of pump-out is concerned with electron density and heating power.Low density deuterium low confinement(L-mode) plasmas(〈3.5×10^19m^-3) show strong pump-out effects. The density pump-out correlated with a significant drop of particle confinement.

文摘Doped graphite GBST1308, mechanically jointed to CuCrZr alloys, will be applied on EAST superconducting as plasma facing material (PFM). But under the higher heat flux, both joints are unacceptable, an advanced PFM and its integration with the heat sink have to be developed, for example, vacuum plasma spraying tungsten coatings on the CuCrZr might be a good choice.

文摘Based on the passive spectroscopy, the D_α atomic emission spectra in the boundary region of the plasma have been measured by a high resolution optical spectroscopic multichannel analysis(OSMA) system in EAST tokamak. The Zeeman splitting of the D_α spectral lines has been observed.A fitting procedure by using a nonlinear least squares method was applied to fit and analyze all polarization π and ±σ components of the D_α atomic spectra to acquire the information of the local plasma. The spectral line shape was investigated according to emission spectra from different regions(e.g.,low-field side and high-field side) along the viewing chords. Each polarization component was fitted and classified into three energy categories(the cold, warm, and hot components) based on different atomic production processes,in consistent with the transition energy distribution by calculating the gradient of the D_α spectral profile. The emission position, magnetic field intensity, and flow velocity of a deuterium atom were also discussed in the context.

文摘Divertor detachment achieved by injecting impurities or increasing density is always accompanied with various local radiation phenomena in the boundary or core plasma. The results indicate that the behavior of the radiation belts is related to the radiation power, plasma confinement performance and state of divertor detachment, which is useful for developing better feedback control methods to achieve high-performance radiative divertor operation mode.

文摘Neon(Ne)seeding is used to cool the edge plasma by radiation to protect the divertor tungsten(W)target in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST).The W sputtering in the outer divertor target with Ne seeding is assessed by the divertor visible spectroscopy system. It is observed that the W sputtering flux initially increases with Ne concentration in the divertor despite the decreasing plasma temperature. After reaching a maximum around 25 eV,the W sputtering rate starts to decrease, presenting a suppression effect. The effect on the divertor W sputtering flux and yield due to the competition between the increase of the Ne concentration and the decrease of the plasma temperature is discussed. The results show that enough Ne seeding is essential to effectively reduce the electron temperature and thus to suppress W sputtering. Moreover,ELM suppression is observed when Ne and W impurities enter the core plasma, which could be correlated to the enhanced turbulence transport in the pedestal.

文摘In 2015 campaign, deuterium atomic emission spectra(D_(α))under the Zeeman effect in boundary region had been measured by a high resolution optical spectroscopic multichannel analysis(OSMA)system based on passive spectroscopy during the deuterium plasma discharge on EAST tokamak, and part of the works about the Zeeman effect on D_(α)spectra had already been done. However, the asymmetric phenomena of D_(α)emission spectra under the Zeeman effect were observed in process of analyzing the spectral data.To understand the asymmetric phenomena and acquire the useful local plasma information,an algorithm was proposed and used to analyze the asymmetry of the emission spectra under the Zeeman effect with all polarization components(πand±σ).In the algorithm, the neutral atoms were considered to follow the Maxwell distribution on EAST,and I+σ=I-σwas considered and set.Because of the line-averaged spectra along the viewing chord, the emission spectra were considered from two different regions:low-field side(LFS)and high-field side(HFS).Each spectral line was classified into three energy categories(the cold, warm, and hot)based on different atomic production processes in boundary recycling. The viewing angleθ(between the magnetic field B and the viewing chord),magnetic field B at two spectral emission positions(HFS and LFS)and the Doppler shift of all three energy categories of each spectral line were all considered in the algorithm. The effect of instrument function was also included here. The information of the boundary plasma were acquired, the reason for the asymmetric phenomena was discussed, and the boundary recycling during the discharge were studied in the paper.Based on fitting a statistical data of acquired fitting results,an important conclusion was acquired that the ratio of the spectral line intensity in HFS and LFS was proportional to the square of that of the corresponding magnetic field.

文摘The first experimental investigation of the tungsten behavior in ELMy H-mode plasmas with co-/counter neutral beam injection(NBI)and unfavor-able/favorable B t was performed on EAST.Tungsten was found to accumulate easily in ELMy H-mode plasma with co-NBI heating and unfavorable B t.Thus,in this case the tungsten concentration can exceed 10^(-4),resulting in degradation of the plasma confinement and periodic H–L transitions. To reduce the tungsten concentration in steady-state type-I ELMy H-mode operation,counter-NBI is applied to modify the density and temperature and brake the plasma toroidal rotation. The applied counter-NBI decreases the PHZ+E_(r) inward pinch velocity and rever-ses the direction of neoclassical inward convection, thus decreasing the tungsten concentration from-7×10^(-5) to-2×10^(-5) in type-I ELMy H-mode plasma with favorable B_(t).A comparison of the effects of different B_(t) directions on the tungsten behavior also shows that favor-able B_(t) is beneficial for reducing the tungsten concentration in the core plasma. These results imply that counter-NBI with favorable B_(t) can effectively prevent tungsten accu-mulation and expand the operating window for exploring steady-state type-I ELMy H-mode operation of EAST.

文摘The parameter dependence of transition between electrostatic instabilities is studied using gyrokinetic simulation based on a real discharge of steady-state scenario in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak. The scan of radial locations shows that trapped electron mode(TEM)dominates around the core while the ion temperature gradient mode(ITG)simultaneously dominates outside. The maximum growth rate of TEM appears aroundρ=0.24,where the maximum electron temperature gradient R/LTelocates,ρis the normalized poloidal flux.Effects of the parameters on the transition between TEM and ITG instability are studied atρ=0.24.It is found that TEM dominates in the scanning with individually changing R/LTe from 2.50 to 25.02 or the density gradient R/L_(n)from 1.38 to 13.76.Meanwhile,the electron-ion temperature ratio T_(e)/T_(i)is found to destabilize TEM,the effect of Teis more sensitive than that of T_(i).The dominant instability diagrams in the(R/L_(Te),R/L_(Ti))plane at different T_(e)/T_(i)and R/Lnare numerically obtained, which clearly show the parameter range of the dominant TEM or dominant ITG instability region. It is found that the dominant TEM region becomes narrower in the plane by decreasing R/L_(n)when T_(e)/T_(i)>0.5.

文摘An internal transport barrier(ITB)can be formed on EAST in exploring high-parameter operation.Previous studies show that safety factor(q)profiles,Shafranov shift and magnetohydrodynamic behaviors could be helpful in ITB formation by suppressing anomalous transport.Recently, electron density evolution with high resolution demonstrates that fishbone could be dominant in electron density ITB formation and sustainment. The power threshold is low in the fishbone condition and the electron density profile is determined by traits of fishbone.Simulation shows that the low-k ion mode is suppressed by fishbone.Direct measurement of turbulence in the inner region shows that the internal kink mode could sustain an electron temperature ITB by suppressing the trapped electron mode. The multi-scale interaction between the kink mode and turbulence by current could be key in sustaining high-electron-temperature long-pulse operation.
