BACKGROUND Previous studies have demonstrated the benefits of ideal cardiovascular health(CVH) in reducing cardiovascular risk.However,its role in subclinical atherosclerosis(SA) progression remains unclear.We aim to ...BACKGROUND Previous studies have demonstrated the benefits of ideal cardiovascular health(CVH) in reducing cardiovascular risk.However,its role in subclinical atherosclerosis(SA) progression remains unclear.We aim to examine the association of CVH,estimated by the American Heart Association's new Life's Essential 8(LE8),with the progression of SA.METHODS This prospective cohort study was conducted among 972 asymptomatic Chinese participants and followed up for5.7 years.The LE8 score(range,0–100) consisted of blood pressure,lipids,glucose,body mass index,smoking status,diet health,physical activity and sleep health was evaluated in 1998 and 2008–2009.Progression of SA was determined by carotid plaque and coronary artery calcification(CAC) in 2008–2009 and 2013–2014.Log-binomial regression model was used to estimate the association of LE8 score with SA progression.RESULTS Each 10 points increment in LE8 score was associated with 15.2%(RR:0.848,95% CI:0.797–0.902),17.7%(RR:0.823,95% CI:0.766–0.884) and 12.0%(RR:0.880,95% CI:0.845–0.916) lower risks of carotid plaque,CAC and overall SA progression,respectively.Compared with participants with non-ideal CVH at both visits,the participants with ideal CVH at both visits had39.1%(RR:0.609,95% CI:0.494–0.752),41.0%(RR:0.590,95% CI:0.456–0.764) and 29.7%(RR:0.703,95% CI:0.598–0.825) lower risks of carotid plaque,CAC and overall SA progression,respectively.CONCLUSIONS Higher LE8 scores were associated with lower risks of SA progression.Besides,long-term maintenance of optimal CVH was more beneficial to prevent SA progression.展开更多

No study has examined the differences in subclinical atherosclerosis that may help explain the differences in incidence. This study examined these differences in subclinical atherosclerosis using coronary computed tomography (CT) for calcification between the Northern and Southern China. Methods We selected a random sample of participants in a large multi-center ongoing epidemiologic study for coronary calcium scanning in one northern city (North) (Beijing, n = 49) and in two southern cities (South) (Shanghai, n = 50, and Guangzhou, n = 50). Participants from the three field centers (mean age 67 years) underwent coronary risk factor evaluation and cardiac CT scanning for coronary calcium measurement using the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis scanning protocol. Results Adjusted log-transformed coronary artery calcium score in North China (Beijing) was 3.1 ±0.4 and in South China (Shanghai and Guangzhou) was 2.2 +_ 0.3 (P = 0.04). Mean calcium score for the northern city of Beijing was three times higher than that of the southern city of Guangzhou (P = 0.01) and 2.5 times higher than for the southern city of Shanghai (P = 0.03). Conclusions The extent of subclinical atherosclerosis is significantly higher in the northern city of Beijing than that in the two southern cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai, even after adjusting for standard cardiac risk factors. This finding suggests that standard risk factors do not fully explain north south differences in clinical CHD incidence.展开更多
Background Coronary atherosclerosis and cognitive impairment are both age-related diseases,with similar risk factors.Coronary artery calcium(CAC),a marker of coronary atherosclerosis,may play a role in early detection...Background Coronary atherosclerosis and cognitive impairment are both age-related diseases,with similar risk factors.Coronary artery calcium(CAC),a marker of coronary atherosclerosis,may play a role in early detection of individuals prone to cognitive decline.This study aimed to investigate the relationship between CAC and cognitive function,and the capability of CAC to identify participants with a high risk of dementia in a Chinese community-based population.Methods A total of 1332 participants,aged 40-80 years and free of dementia from a community located in Beijing were included.All participants completed neurocognitive questionnaires and noncontrast CT examinations.Cognitive performance tests(including verbal memory,semantic fluency,executive function,and global cognitive function tests),the Cardiovascular Risk Factors,Aging,and Incidence of Dementia(CIDE)risk score,and the CAC score(CACS)were evaluated by questionnaires and CT.A CAIDE score≥10 was considered to indicate a high risk of dementia in late-life.Participants were divided into three groups according to CACS(0,1-399,≥400).Results After adjusting for risk factors,CACS was significantly associated with verbal memory(r=-0.083,P=0.003)and global cognitive function(r=-0.070,P=0.012).The prevalence of a high risk of dementia in the subgroups of CACS=0,1-399,and≥400 was 4.67%,13.66%,and 24.79%,respectively(P<0.001).Individuals with CACS≥400 had a higher risk of CAIDE score≥10[OR=2.30(1.56,4.56),P=0.014]than those with CACS=0.The receiver-operating characteristic curves showed that the capability of CACS to identify participants with a high risk of dementia was moderate(AUC=0.70,95%CI:0.67-0.72,P<0.001).Conclusions CAC,a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis,was significantly associated with cognitive performance in verbal memory and global cognitive function.CAC had a moderate capability to identify participants with a high risk of dementia,independent of age,education,and other risk factors.展开更多
Aroma is central to the worldwide success of truffles as gourmet food and the high prices paid for these edible mushrooms.In this study,volatile organic compounds(VOCs)from fruiting bodies of two Chinese truffles of c...Aroma is central to the worldwide success of truffles as gourmet food and the high prices paid for these edible mushrooms.In this study,volatile organic compounds(VOCs)from fruiting bodies of two Chinese truffles of commercial relevance,Tuber indicum and Tuber pseudohimalayense,were analyzed using headspace solid-phase microextraction(HS-SPME)coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).We aimed to characterize the aroma profile and determine whether it would be influenced by provenance and stage of maturation.We thus collected and analyzed young,middle mature and mature fruiting bodies of each species from different locations in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces,located in southwestern China.Overall,76 VOCs were identified,belonging to different chemical classes,i.e.alcohols and phenols,aldehydes and ketones,benzenes and methoxy compounds,hydrocarbons and amines.A large number of volatiles identified in T.indicum and T.pseudohimalayense are reported here for the first time for these truffles.While more than 50%of identified VOCs were produced by both truffle species,considerable differences were present in the aroma profiles of fruiting bodies collected at various maturation stages,revealing a dynamic pattern in the biosynthesis of VOCs.Furthermore,truffles of different provenance had distinct proportions of volatile constituents,suggesting that,besides genetic factors,edaphic and microclimatic conditions influence the synthesis of VOCs in a complex manner.展开更多

In this paper, an efficient thermal analysis method is presented for large scale compound semiconductor integrated circuits based on a heterojunction bipolar transistor with considering the change of thermal conductiv...In this paper, an efficient thermal analysis method is presented for large scale compound semiconductor integrated circuits based on a heterojunction bipolar transistor with considering the change of thermal conductivity with temperature.The influence caused by the thermal conductivity can be equivalent to the increment of the local temperature surrounding the individual device. The junction temperature for each device can be efficiently calculated by the combination of the semianalytic temperature distribution function and the iteration of local temperature with high accuracy, providing a temperature distribution for a full chip. Applying this method to the InP frequency divider chip and the GaAs analog to digital converter chip, the computational results well agree with the results from the simulator COMSOL and the infrared thermal imager respectively. The proposed method can also be applied to thermal analysis in various kinds of semiconductor integrated circuits.展开更多

The round function composes of two parts--data transformation based on Feistel(abbreviated as FST) and sampling output based on chaos(abbreviated as SMP). FST bases on Feistel structure and several efficient operations including bitwise xor, permutation and circulating shift. SMP is a chaos based pseudo-random sampling algorithm. It is from theoretical analysis that the round function is a pseudo-random function. The upper bounds of the average maximum differential probability and average maximum linear probability are p^2 and q^2 respectively. Finally, the good pseudo-randomness of the round function is examined with the NIST random test. Nanowires with gate-all-around(GAA) structures are widely considered as the most promising candidate for 3-nm technology with the best ability of suppressing the short channel effects,and tunneling field effect transi...Nanowires with gate-all-around(GAA) structures are widely considered as the most promising candidate for 3-nm technology with the best ability of suppressing the short channel effects,and tunneling field effect transistors(TFETs)based on GAA structures also present improved performance.In this paper,a non-quasi-static(NQS) device model is developed for nanowire GAA TFETs.The model can predict the transient current and capacitance varying with operation frequency,which is beyond the ability of the quasi-static(QS) model published before.Excellent agreements between the model results and numerical simulations are obtained.Moreover,the NQS model is derived from the published QS model including the current-voltage(I-V) and capacitance-voltage(C-V) characteristics.Therefore,the NQS model is compatible with the QS model for giving comprehensive understanding of GAA TFETs and would be helpful for further study of TFET circuits based on nanowire GAA structure.展开更多
