English learning motivation plays a more and more important role in junior middle school students' study,and it is necessary for students to learn English effectively.Therefore,teachers should take responsibilities for stimulating students' English learning motivation.This present thesis investigates 63 students who are from class 1 grade 1,class 2 grade 1 and class 3 grade 1 in NanJie country junior middle school in LinYing town LuoHe city by the way of questionnaire.And the thesis discusses the source of students' learning motivation,for the purpose of putting forward strategies of motivating students' English learning motivation in accordance with students' type of motivation. 展开更多

The paper uses illustration and contrast analysis to discuss symbolism in Mansfield's masterpiece The Garden Party. The main contention includes: The symbolic meaning of the"garden party"itself, the symbols of the two worlds(the world of"garden party"and the world of"lane"), the image of the main characters, the representative objects and the implied meaning of the ending. In this paper,the author applies Jef Verschueren's Pragmatics as a Theory of Linguistic Adaptation as the theoretical basement.And the generation of code- switching is discussed under the guidance of Yu Guodong's Adaptation Model as well.Conclusions can be drawn as: teacher's English/Chinese codeswitching is an adaptation to linguistic reality,social conventions and teacher's psychological intentions,the first two being considered as passive switching and the last being active switching.Teacher's codeswitching as understanding-facilitating strategy forms the most important factor that triggers teacher's English/Chinese codeswitching. 展开更多
