Among which, the most recent important discoveries represented by the systematic excavations and researches at the Longyadong Cave, other open-air sites at Luonan Basin, and the late Palaeolithic site at Longwanchan. In terms of the Neolithic discoveries in the Province, fruitful results have been achieved during the past decades. The temporal framework in the Weihe valley is firstly established by the archaeological discoveries in this area, which can be chronologically listed as the Laoguantai culture, the Lower-Beishouling culture,Banpo culture,Miaodigou culture, and Banpo Phase IV and Quanhu Phase II culture, following by the cultures identified in Longshan Times (including Miaodigou Phase II culture,Anban Phase III culture and Keshengzhuang culture). Based on these discoveries and researches, the cultural pedigree along the Weihe Valley becomes more and more distinguishable and identifiable. Meanwhile, archaeologists began to pay more attention on observing the cultural distribution and characteristics in a broader region while putting the Guanzhong area under the entire Yellow River Valley, and are trying to understand the interior and exterior impetus which made the different cultures coexisted and developed. In addition, the tentative researches and probes to the mortuary system, settlement pattern and social structure in the Neolithic Shaanxi also attracted much concerns recently, and the cooperative research between different subjects becomes more and more regular. It is also worth to mention here that the systematic surveys along the Dali River Valley in the past five years produce many important discoveries which help to establish the chronological framework in the Northern Shaanxi during Early Neolithic to Shang-Zhou dynasties, and help to resolve the regional unbalance of researches due to the deficiency of archaeological excavations and investigations in this region.展开更多
