Au-TiO2 dis-conductive composite films with Au atom concentrate as high as 82% are prepared by using reactive co-sputtering technique. The annealing effect on the nanostructures and optical nonlinearities of the composite films are investigated. A u nanoparticles aggregated to semi-continuum network structures during the annealing processes. As the annealing temperature increases from 25℃ to 400℃, the surface plasmon absorption band is shifted and its strength is increased, consequently, the nonlinear absorption coefficient β decreases from 5.6 × 10^4 cm/GW to -1.7 × 10^4 cm/GW, while the nonlinear refractive index ~ increases from -0.95 cm^2/GW to 1.3 cm^2/GW. 展开更多

The Evolution of the Extinction and Growth Mechanism of the Silver Nanoplates

The time-dependence evolution of the extinction spectra of the silver nanoplates is studied to analyze the underlying physical mechanism of the growth process. As the synthesis cycles increase, the wavelength of the absorption peak is first blue-shifted and then is followed by the red shift, attributing to the mode alteration of the longitudinal surface plasmon resonance of the silver nanoplates. The capping agents are also optimized for the convenient and speedy growth of the large integrated Ag nanostructure. These observations expand the comprehensive understanding of plasmon resonance of the Ag nanoplates, and give a better manipulation of their applications in the plasmonie nanodevices. 展开更多

Micrometer-scale gold nanoplates have been synthesized in high yield through a polyol process.The morphology,crystal structure and linear optical extinction of the gold nanoplates have been characterized.These gold nanoplates are single-crystalline with triangular,truncated triangular and hexagonal shapes,exhibiting strong surface plasmon resonance(SPR)extinction in the visible and near-infrared(NIR)region.The linear optical properties of gold nanoplates are also investigated by theoretical calculations.We further investigate the nonlinear optical properties of the gold nanoplates in solution by Z-scan technique.The nonlinear absorption(NLA)coefficient and nonlinear refraction(NLR)index are measured to be 1.18×10^(2)cm/GW and-1.04×10^(-3)cm^(2)/GW,respectively. 展开更多

We theoretically study the near-field couplings of two stacked all-dielectric nanodisks,where each disk has an electric anapole mode consisting of an electric dipole mode and an electric toroidal dipole(ETD)mode.Strong bonding and anti-bonding hybridizations of the ETD modes of the two disks occur.The bonding hybridized ETD can interfere with the dimer’s electric dipole mode and induce a new electric anapole mode.The anti-bonding hybridization of the ETD modes can induce a magnetic toroidal dipole(MTD)response in the disk dimer.The MTD and magnetic dipole resonances of the dimer form a magnetic anapole mode.Thus,two dips associated with the hybridized modes appear on the scattering spectrum of the dimer.Furthermore,the MTD mode is also accompanied by an electric toroidal quadrupole mode.The hybridizations of the ETD and the induced higher-order modes can be adjusted by varying the geometries of the disks.The strong anapole mode couplings and the corresponding rich higher-order mode responses in simple all-dielectric nanostructures can provide new opportunities for nanoscale optical manipulations. 展开更多

Photoluminescence from Nd Doped Anodic Aluminium Oxide

We prepare Nd doped anodic aluminium oxide (Nd:AAO) template by using Nd doped aluminium foils through two-step anodization processes. Photoluminescence (PL) from the Nd:AAO template with the annealing temperature higher than 400℃ is observed, and the PL intensity enhanced with the increasing annealing temperature is found. We investigate the crystallization of Nd:AAO template and the excitation wavelength dependence of PL intensity, showing that the PL results from the Nd doped in the template. The approach presented may probably facilitate the fabricating of AAO with good light-emitting property, which can be used in fabrication of multifunctional nanosized films and may find applications in photonic devices. 展开更多

The concentration dependence of the fluorescence spectra and lifetimes of chlorophyll𝑏and sodium magnesium chlorophyllin are compared to explore the influences of intramolecular relaxation and intermolecular interaction of chlorophylls on the fluorescence dynamics.With different concentrations of chlorophyll𝑏and sodium magnesium chlorophyllin in the suspensions,three different fluorescence emission bands are observed.Intermolecular inter-actions increase as the concentrations increase,which lead to redshifts in both fluorescence and lifetime spectra.Additionally,the lifetime is increased by re-absorption in the sodium magnesium chlorophyllin suspensions.These observations increase the understanding of the light harvesting and energy relaxation mechanisms of chlorophyll molecules. 展开更多

We investigate the power-dependent luminescence of CdSe/ZnS semiconductor quantum dots closely packed layer- by-layer in the proximity of a silver nanorod array cavity. It is found that the emission peak shifts significantly to the longer wavelengths as the excitation power increases, especially when the longitudinal surface plasmon resonance of the Ag nanorod array cavity is adjusted to be close to the emission wavelength. The equivalent gain varies with the coating layer of CdSe/ZnS semiconductor quantum dots and the excitation power is also studied to explain this interesting spectrum-shifting effect. These findings could find applications in the dynamic information processing of active plasmonic and photonic nanodevices. 展开更多
