Since the catalytic activity of most nanozymes is still far lower than the corresponding natural enzymes,there is urgent need to discover novel highly efficient enzyme-like materials.In this work,Co_(3)V_(2)O_(8)with ...Since the catalytic activity of most nanozymes is still far lower than the corresponding natural enzymes,there is urgent need to discover novel highly efficient enzyme-like materials.In this work,Co_(3)V_(2)O_(8)with hollow hexagonal prismatic pencil structures were prepared as novel artificial enzyme mimics.They were then decorated by photo-depositing Ag nanoparticles(Ag NPs)on the surface to further improve its catalytic activities.The Ag NPs decorated Co_(3)V_(2)O_(8)(ACVPs)showed both excellent oxidase-and peroxidase-like catalytic activities.They can oxidize the colorless 3,3’,5,5’-tetramethylbenzidine rapidly to induce a blue change.The enhanced enzyme mimetic activities can be attributed to the surface plasma resonance(SPR)effect of Ag NPs as well as the synergistic catalytic effect between Ag NPs and Co_(3)V_(2)O_(8),accelerating electron transfer and promoting the catalytic process.ACVPs were applied in constructing a colorimetric sensor,validating the occurrence of the Fenton reaction,and disinfection,presenting favorable catalytic performance.The enzyme-like catalytic mechanism was studied,indicating the chief role of⋅O_(2)-radicals in the catalytic process.This work not only discovers a novel functional material with double enzyme mimetic activity but also provides a new insight into exploiting artificial enzyme mimics with highly efficient catalytic ability.展开更多

This paper presents the inactivation of bacteria via a pulsed plasma jet with He/O2 mixed gas. To evaluate the disinfection performance, Staphylococcus aureus was used as an indicator bacteria for experiments. When the plasma jet dealt with agar plates spraying bacteria, it was found that mixed gas has a better performance than pure inert gas, indicated by the disinfection area. The increment of oxygen gas addition was beneficial to the disinfection ability of the plasma jet, while the gas had an opposite effect on the length of jet production. The experiments showed the efficacy of Staphylococcus aureus disinfection could reach up to 99.47% via a helium/oxygen (2%) plasma jet.展开更多

In the...At present microbiological risk are still the most frequent in the food industry and the disinfection is one of the procedures that can be carried out in the general prevention of foodborne infectious diseases. In the industrial process of food transformation the cleaning and disinfection procedures of surfaces and machinery have to be considered an integrate system with food production,a technological aspect that surely affects the finished product quality and safety. First of all to carry out properly these operations it is necessary that the factory and the equipment have been designed and constructed with high standard of hygiene to reduce the risk of contamination and to facilitate the sanitation. The procedures involve several stages which generally include pre-washing with water,cleaning,real disinfection,and a final rinsing with water. In order to assure a right disinfections of surfaces areas and of processing equipment the choice of disinfectant takes on particular importance. Some of the most widely used disinfectants include the hypochlorous acid,the chlorine dioxide and the peroxides like peracetic acid; the latter is widely used in soft drink and mineral water industries. The efficiency of these chemical agents depends on various factors as pH,temperature and the presence of organic substances with which the disinfectants can react to give by-products which can reduce the activity and can present toxicity. The use of hypochlorite may led to the formation of carcinogenic substance such as trialomethanes (THM) while the use of chlorine dioxide may lead to the formation of chlorites and chlorates. The peracetic acid is a good alternative compounds and it doesn’t lead to the formation of carcinogenic by-products. In our researches we evaluated the effectiveness of peracetic acid to inactivate some resistant micro-organism like hepatitis A virus; our results show that in practical application in CIP (cleaning in place) it’s necessary to use concentration of 600~1300mg/L of peracetic acid for 15~ 30min of contact time for an inactivation >99.99%.展开更多
Drinking water disinfection is an essential process to assure public health all over the world.In this study,silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)on UiO-66(Zr)Metal-Organic Frameworks(Ag@UiO-66)is proposed as a potential water ...Drinking water disinfection is an essential process to assure public health all over the world.In this study,silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)on UiO-66(Zr)Metal-Organic Frameworks(Ag@UiO-66)is proposed as a potential water disinfection strategy.AgNPs are synthesized using polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)as stabilizing agent,and sodium borohydride as reducing agent are subsequently embedded on UiO-66,a high-stability organometallic framework.The effect of premixing time,reaction time and reactant concentration on the loading rate of AgNPs on UiO-66 was investigated.The maximum load rate of AgNPs on UiO-66 could reach 13%when the premixing time is 3 h,the reaction time is 45 min and the concentration of AgNO_(3) is10μg/mL.The formation of AgNPs loaded on UiO-66 was observed and confirmed with ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry(UV-Vis),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),infrared emission spectroscopy(IES)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)analysis.Ag@UiO-66 exhibited strong antibacterial activity against both Gramnegative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus,with minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC)of 64 and 128μg/mL,respectively.The germicidal efficacy of Ag@UiO-66 enhanced significantly as the temperature rose from 4℃to 37℃.The results indicate that Ag@UiO-66 is potential candidate as a feasible water disinfection material.展开更多

To investigate the characteristics of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in an actual water distribution system using the raw water with high bromide ion concentration, the composition and concentration of trihalometha...To investigate the characteristics of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in an actual water distribution system using the raw water with high bromide ion concentration, the composition and concentration of trihalomethanes (THMs) formed by chlorination of the water in the presence of bromide ion were measured in a city water distribution system during one year. The results show that brominated THMs contributed a great part (83%-89% ) to the index for additive toxicity (ATI) and resulted in the ATI of most of the samples exceeding WHO guideline standard for total THMs ( TTHMs), especially during the summer ( rainy season). This indicates that the chlorination of water in the presence of bromide ion leaded to high ratios of brominated THMs to TrHMs. However, a visible increase in the concentration of THMs with increasing residence time in the distribution system was not observed. Additionally, based on alternatives analysis, packed tower aeration method is proposed to reduce THMs level of the finished water leaving the treatment plant.展开更多
Objective The purpose of the present study is to provide scientific evidence for the implementation of standardized management of the loaner instruments by examining the process of receiving through issuing steps and ...Objective The purpose of the present study is to provide scientific evidence for the implementation of standardized management of the loaner instruments by examining the process of receiving through issuing steps and analyzing challenges encountered by the CSSD of our hospital. Methods The loaner instruments were collected and categorized into the control group( 2 639 pieces during the period of January 2013 to December 2014) and the observation group( 2 418 pieces during the period of January 2015 to December 2016). The possible causes of the challenges were carefully investigated and analyzed. Results After the implementation of standardized management procedures,the efficiency and qualified care of the loaner instruments was significantly improved by measuring qualified rate. The difference in the qualified rate between control and observation groups was statistically significant( P < 0. 01). Conclusion The implementation of the standardized management procedures is important for central sterilization supply departments in guarantee of safe supplies of the loaner instruments,reducing operation risks,and ultimately ensuring patient safety.展开更多
