摘要
《资治通鉴》所载武则天驯狮子骢事是武则天早年政治生涯中的一个重要历史事件,然而却不见载于正史及其他史籍,究其原因,存在两种可能性:一方面,武则天训狮子骢事乃武则天晚年自己的回忆,自述史料本身所具有的一定局限性导致其真实性和可信度值得怀疑;另一方面,类似的情节在佛经故事中多有描写,此事很有可能是笃信佛教的武则天受到此类故事的启发而自我杜撰出来的一段“神话”,后被《资治通鉴》误收。隋唐时期丝绸之路的空前畅通,从西域进贡来的狮子骢之类的宝马屡见诸史载;武则天改造佛经故事,再将之附会到驯服狮子骢事上,借以震慑、控驭群臣,实乃高明之举。尽管此事可能纯属虚构,不过它所蕴含的历史信息却很丰富,反映了丝绸之路多元文明互动、传播和影响的痕迹。
The story of the Emperess Wu Zetian taming a Shizicong(a kind of spirited horse)in the Zi Zhi Tong Jian is an important historical record in her early political career,but it did not appear in the official history and other historical records.It is only from Wu Zetian’s own memories in her later years,so its authenticity and credibility are quite questionable due to the limitations of the self-described materials.This may be a story fabricated by Wu Zetian and mistakenly accepted by ZZTJ.Because similar plots are often described in Sutra stories,Wu Zetian,who believed in Buddhism,should be inspired by such stories and made up a story by herself.However,as the Silk Road was clear of obstructions in the Sui and Tang Dynasties,tribute horses such as Shizicong from the Western Regions were often recorded in history.Wu Zetian used the fictional story of how she tamed the Shizicong by imitating the Sutra stories as a means of deterring and controlling the government officials,which was indeed a tactical decision.Although this may be a sheer fabrication,it contains rich historical information,and the signs of the interaction,communication and influence of the diverse civilizations of the Silk Road.
