摘要
从汉代开始,“故事”成为治国理政的新依据,它的一个来源是历史人物的事迹。霍光历仕汉武帝、昭帝和宣帝三朝,其生前和身后事迹被后人根据不同情境,有选择性地以“霍光故事”名义作为处理类似事件和达到个人目的的参照,并频繁出现在从《东观汉记》到《资治通鉴》的诸多史籍中,是霍光影响的具象化。“霍光故事”是汉代“故事”形成的一种模式,反映了汉代“故事”的诸多特征:应用领域广泛、地位模糊、形成主体多样和传承中去情境化。在汉代历史上,“霍光故事”在平帝时首次被提出用来解决现实问题,在东汉时成为援引次数最多的四个“故事”之一,是“故事”运用于治国理政的体现。从中国法制史的角度看,汉代“故事”尚不具备法律地位,也不是“道德权威”,但这预示了汉代“故事”地位的提升空间和演变趋势。
“Story”became a new basis of or rationale behind governance in the Han Dynasty,and one of its sources was the words and deeds of historical figures.Huo Guang held many influential posts during the reigns of Emperor Wu(141-87 BC),Emperor Zhao(87-74 BC)and Emperor Xuan(74-49 BC),whose biographies and posthumous reminiscences have since come to be relished far and wide.The deeds of Huo Guang were selectively used by posterity as a reference for dealing with similar events according to different situations.Hence,“the story of HUO Guang”had become a special term used by later historians from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty to describe Huo Guang’s influence,whose frequent appearances in many historical documents such as Dongguan Hanji(An Internal Palace Record of the History of Later Han Dynasty东观汉记)and Zizhi Tongjian(Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Government资治通鉴)bore testimony to such influence.“The story of Huo Guang”was seen as a paradigm of story formation which reflected many characteristics of“stories”in the Han Dynasty,providing a pattern for solving similar problems,yet with its scope of application being extensive,its status being ambiguous,its thematic expressions being diverse,and its inheritance being decontextualized from its original setting.“The story of Huo Guang”was firstly proposed to solve practical problems during the reign of Emperor Ping(9 BC-6 AD),which later became one of the four“stories”cited most frequently in the Eastern Han Dynasty.From the perspective of the history of Chinese legal system,“story”in the Han Dynasty did not have the legal status in its own right or belong to the realm of“moral authority”.
