摘要
许渊冲在数十年的翻译实践中,其目光一方面投向西方的文学经典,另一方面投向中国的传统文化经典。他从实践出发去思考翻译,特别关注汉语的特点,关注汉语与外语之间的差异,关注差异背后的文化、审美等因素。对他来说,这是一种具有理论自觉的探讨,拿他自己的理论术语说,他坚持的是中国翻译学派的"实践论"。本文从许渊冲对于翻译的思考深深根植于中国文化传统这一特征出发,在中国翻译学界普遍吸收与借鉴西方译论的背景下,去探讨许渊冲如何以"汉"为出发点去解决中国翻译所面临的实际问题,从中国的传统思想,尤其是中国古典文论与美学思想中寻找其翻译理论的根据。
In his decades of translation practice,Xu Yuanchong turned his eyes to the western literary classics on the one hand and the Chinese traditional cultural classics on the other.He thinks about translation from the perspective of practice.He pays special attention to the characteristics of the Chinese language,to the differences between Chinese and foreign languages,and to the cultural and aesthetic factors behind the differences.For him,this is a study on the consciousness of the theories.In terms of his own theoretical terms,he insists on the“practice theory”of the Chinese translation school.Based on Xu Yuanchong’s thoughts on translation which are deeply rooted in Chinese cultural tradition,this article explores how Xu Yuanchong solves practical problems faced by the Chinese translation as a starting point of Chinese language,in the context of the general absorption and reference of western translation theories by Chinese translation scholars.This article also discusses how Xu seeks his basis of translation theory from Chinese traditional thoughts,especially from the Chinese classical literary theory.
