摘要
本文基于译者行为批评理论中的"求真—务实"连续统评价模式,对老舍先生的《骆驼祥子》四个英译本中的惯用语、方言和歇后语等"乡土语言"英译的"求真度"和"务实度"进行了定性与定量对比分析,并利用译者行为批评理论中的"译者角色化"概念,探讨了隐藏在各译本不同的"求真度"和"务实度"背后的社会动因和译者因素。基于上述研究,文末对影响中国文学文化外译"走出去"与"走进去"的诸如译者能力与译者选择等因素做简要论述,提出了自己的观点。
Based on the continuum of degrees of truth-seeking and utility-attaining in the theory of Translator Behavior Criticism,this paper gives a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the translation of“folk language”such as idioms,dialects and allegorical sayings in the four English versions of Luotuoxiangzi by Lao She.The four translators are respectively Evan King,Jane James,Shi Xiaojing and Howard Goldblatt.It then investigates the social causes and translator-related factors behind the different degrees of truth-seeking and utility-attaining in light of the concept of“translator role”.Toward the end of the paper,the author goes further to briefly discuss factors such as the translator's competence and choice that influence the world-wide spread of Chinese literature and culture.
