摘要
本文采用文献研究、专题座谈会、个别深入访谈、关键事件分析以及问卷调查等多种研究方法,编制了一个由11个维度的44个计量项目组成的公仆型领导量表,并通过定性和定量分析,对这个量表的心理测量特征进行了初步的检验。可靠性分析、探测性分析、确认性与二阶因子分析、多层次线性模型分析结果表明,作者编制的公仆型领导量表具有较好的可靠性、会聚有效性、鉴别有效性和预测有效性,可用于计量组织、部门、基层单位等各个层次的公仆型领导风格。
In recent years, there is a growing interest in the theory of servant leadership among the American and European leader- ship scholars who have made some progress in the conceptual discussions, measurement of the servant leadership, and empirical investigation of the effectiveness of servant leadership. However, the concept of servant leadership in China is inherently different from that in the western countries due to different social systems and national cultures. The Chinese scholars should develop lead- ership theory with Chinese characteristics based on the general national condition and the managerial practices in China, rather than follow the western leadership philosophies blindly. In the present study, the authors have applied qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in six interrelated studies to investigate the conceptual definition and dimensions of servant leadership, develop a new scale of servant leadership, and test its psychometric properties. The authors present in this paper a new definition of servant leadership and its fifteen dimensions derived from a review of literature, focus group study, in-depth interviews and critical incident analysis. The'initial 100 measurement items of the new scale and Liden, Wayne, Zhao, and Herderson's 28 item scale were tested with two separate samples (N=607, N=253), and refined to a 44-item, 11 dimension servant leadership scale based on exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.The authors sub- sequently validated the new measures with two separate samples (N=263, N=827). Both qualitative and quantitative studies are reported to establish preliminary psychometric properties for the new measure. The results of reliability analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, second order factor analysis, and hierarchical linear modeling indicate that the instrument has good performance on internal consistency, convergent, discriminant, and predictive validity, and the scale can be used to measure servant leadership at organizational, departmental, and work unit levels. Theoretical contributions, and limitations of the present study are discussed, and directions for future research are suggested.
