摘要
1870—1914年英国的慈善事业有了较大的发展,这种发展既有历史的原因,也有社会传统的原因,并与这一时期英国社会经济的变化直接相关。慈善事业所提供的救助主要表现在一般性救济、失业救济、住房建设以及医疗健康救济等方面。从总体上说,慈善机构各类救济在英国社会发挥了重要作用,但是由于英国社会问题的越发严重以及慈善组织自身在原则和措施方面的不足,英国慈善组织的社会救济效果并不明显。
The English philanthropy took a large development in 1870-1914 for the reason of the history, social tradition and the change of the social economy. The social assistance given by the English philanthropy society contained the normal relief, unemployment relief, house building and health care. These assistances had great influence on the English society in overall, but because of the defect of its discipline and measurement, the effect of these assistances isn't evident.
