Three excavated brick tombs of the graveyard all belong to the Lis of Guangping, as told in the dat- ed epitaphs. The tomb coded M1 belonged to Li Ji who died in 357 AD;M2 to Li Zuan and his wife, whose joint burial took place in 375 AD;M3 to Li Mo who died in 357 AD. These tombs must have been built in the same time due to their similar shape and orderly arrangement. It seems that Li Zuan and Li Mo are brothers and Li Ji, their older generation. Quite a few graveyards of large families such as the Xies, the Wangs, etc, from the period of the Eastern Jin through Southern Dynasties, have been found around Nanjing. The excavation of the graveyard in question, the sixth one of the Eastern Jin in the area, sheds much new light on such issues as the tomb shape and structure of the Six Dynasties, arrangement of the familial graveyard, development of epi- taph, evolution of script, and so on.
